John Kerry - Say you want the votes in Ohio counted by hand!!!
Demand that these votes be counted by hand!!! Do it now!!! Announce it to the media!!! Plaster it all over your web page!!! We have no proof that the machines worked correctly!!! There is nothing wrong with having votes counted by hand in plain view of observers from both sides!!! Are we really going to let this happen again??? Do not delay on this!!! Act now, for freedom!!! This is not about politics!!! I say again, THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH COUNTING THE VOTES BY HAND!!! Support freedom now!!!

2. I agree . . . but . . .
he's probably not gonna speak up. You seem optimistic. I'm not quite there. He's got a lot o' splainin' to do in order to win me back (and millions more of his previous supporters, I suspect).

Unfortunately, I believe his concession took any major steam out of what would otherwise be a major media story. And, since the work of investigative journalism is relegated to the great people here on DU and the internet and in the universities -- and, we've done a splendid job -- then the mainstream media is jealous of us and resentful of itself because we're doing their job (and better, I might add). It's a shame the majority of this work is not getting into the larger American psyche.

John Kerry could have propelled this issue and made his supporters proud to see him fighting on their behalf.

When he conceded, he hurt himself AND all of his supporters who no longer had someone to rally around -- someone THEY would get out into the streets and fight for (the guy in Ukraine didn't concede). He completely diffused the spark of energy that had been building for his victory by immediately succumbing to defeat.

The Republicans stole this election. Kerry knows it, everybody at least suspects as much.

Maybe a big story of election fraud will open this thing up and Kerry will indeed be Our Leader. I don't see it happening though, not without an enthusiastic base of support behind him to REALLY push back and expose the Bush Crime Family. And Kerry disposed of us already.

3. welcome to DU manxkat! Good post! I totally agree! n/t
What a let down. Democracy is alive in the Ukraine and dead in the old and beaten USA. John Kerry folded, he is, and probably always was one of THEM! We need a real political party with real leadership.

6. thanks 8643
Yes, maybe Kerry was one of THEM -- he sure didn't seem to be the same man who testified in 1971 about the atrocities in Nam

Whatever the reason, he did let us down, and he's a fool if he thinks he can run again in 2008.

Unless Bush implodes in a Watergate-type scandal (e.g. complicity in 9/11) and the American people wake up out of their hypnosis of fear, we won't have elections again.

on November 2, yet Kerry doesn't even care to locate the missing limbs"

4. Three FL counties allowed the Miami Herald to observe
hand recounts of the votes.

Since they allowed the Miami Herald to recount the votes, they no longer have an excuse to not allow the Kerry campaign or anyone else for that matter the same privilage.

Time to raise hell and demand a hand recount in OH and FL.

5. how do you count electronic votes with no paper trail?
you can't count them by hand.

The fix was in when our "leaders" failed to pay attention to the looming problem and prevent these machines from being used.

7. Paper trail is available
in Ohio at least, from my understanding.

There are still computers used to count the paper ballots (optical scan) and those computers could be tampered with, and/or the central tabulating computer could be tampered with. Hence, the suggestion of hand-counting.

Frankly, I don't think the people who stole the election would be stupid enough to mess with the optical scan ballots since they could be caught (unless they were so sure there'd never be a hand recount, and with Katherine Blackwell in charge in Ohio, that's probably a safe assumption).

30+ percent of the entire nationwide election had e-voting without a paper trail. That's where the mischief would have happened -- in those machines, or the central tabulating machines.

The only hope is that the Repugnicans were sloppy (which they've tended to be) and Bev Harris of BlackBoxVoting.org and others will uncover a smoking gun. Much of what has been uncovered already is smoking enough for me, but the media is key to this story and they're keeping hush. They must like Bush -- they make more money under him.

12. There's no reason not to...
verify the accuracy of the vote count in Ohio. John Kerry's action or inaction on this will tell us a lot about the man.
