3. you may have to adjust the tin foil hat
and put the shiny side out. These vague conspiracy theories are on the same level as the stupid penis==pistol threads.

4. Suspicious?
Being in the military is dangerous, whether in combat, or training.

Accidents are an unfortunate outcome, however they happen all the time. Flying, in particular, is dangerous.

5. and helicopter flying is esp. dangerous
they often operate close to the ground, where there are all sorts of nasty things like towers, and guy wires.

And if you don't train in fairly realistic conditions, a LOT more people die when it is real.

6. Right you are!
Helo flying is particularly tricky to learn, & a lot more dangerous than people realize.

7. Plus Helicopters do not like to fly
Edited on Tue Nov-30-04 12:05 AM by Zynx
It is aerodynamically natural for a plane to fly. Even without power, a plane will fly reasonably well so long as it is already airborne -- these are called gliders. This indicates that the form of the airplane is correct, just like a bird is.

A helicopter has the aerodynamics of a brick, which makes sense because it is more or less a rectangle. Engine goes out, gravity takes over, is very unkind and you go THUD!
