Bush's Canadian dinner to include whiskey, merlot and bourbon
This is not a joke. Here is the menu (see sidebar):

http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/1101817423028_58/?hub=TopStories

Roasted Okanagan apple and butternut squash bisque spiked with 'Gentleman Jack' Tennessee whiskey.

Mesquite smoked medallion of Alberta beef served with Taber corn, Yukon gold mashed potatoes, hand-picked baby vegetables and a Niagara Merlot sauce.

Saskatoon berry creme nestled on dark chocolate fondant, Florida orange sabayon and mousseline with a Quebec maple bourbon sauce

And it looks like he is going to need it.

2. Unfortunately, when you cook with liquor, the alcohol burns off,
leaving only the flavor.

5. Only if you simmer or boil for 5 minutes or more
but lets hope you're right. He's bad enough when sober.

6. if he were really recovering
he should be concerned about the possibility that some alcohol would remain....but since I don't think he's ever actually stopped, it doesn't matter....

7. Absolutely!
In A.A. they also say you shouldn't drink "non-alcoholic" beer -- which The Jackass apparently already does. He's TOTALLY not in recovery ...

8. he's so not in recovery
i don't even think he's ever been to a meeting. he just claimed to have found god and put the bottle down. i'd agree with the articles that have been written, he's definitely a dry drunk.....

9. a Niagara merlot???
haven't had any of the reds from the Niagara region, but I've had the whites and, well, um, er - I think you have to be an ultra-Canadian to like them. They just don't have the climate to grow French varietels there.

As for the rest of the menu - with advance notice any decent kitchen can do a special plate or three for guests who do not want alcohol in any form (or have other special needs) and don't want to call attention to themselves.

Do you really expect George III to eat the same thing as the masses???

linda

PS: what - no poutine!!??

13. Real men don't eat quiche
Edited on Tue Nov-30-04 05:29 PM by SpiralHawk
nor would a "real man" (TM) be seen sucking up "... berry creme nestled on dark chocolate fondant, Florida orange sabayon and mousseline with a Quebec maple bourbon sauce..."

Faced with an effete French menu like that, our Uber Patriot Man Child pResident will no doubt resolve his gustatory/manly man image dilemma, by answering The Big Q --

"What would Jesus do?"

Will Bush go AWOL from the dinner table?

Stay tuned...
