If Bush was impeached...
We'd still end up w/ Cheney. I think this is what scares the Dems about going after Bush. Bush had enough foresight to make sure the next in lines were EVEN worse than HE is.

Who would be next in line after Cheney?

1. We also don't control the House or Senate,
which means we can't launch Congressional investigations.

4. impeach one, may as well impeach two
Cheney is complicit in whatever Bush is doing, so why not impeach both at the same time?

Condi. Right? OMG! OOPS, my mistake, I forgot Speaker Hastart. Sadly, it doesn't seem to get any better no matter how far down the line you go! Can you impeach the entire right side of the Senate and House?

6. Per our "quaint" Constitution, the Speaker of the House is 3rd in line
I suppose some forgot their basic civics .... or maybe the Constitution is so decried by our opposition no one pays attention any more.

10. Hastert is power hungry without making it look obvious. He wants to win
in 2008. But he'd rather win as an incumbent.

I could see him engineering impeachment of * and indictment of Cheney, making him in line to take the Oath of Office. And he'd come off looking like a republican/neocon with integrity as he turned on his own in order to "clean house" (White House, that is).

It's the perfect Marchiavellian plan and Karl Rove will never see it coming and will not be able to stop it once it's in play.

11. The "succession line" is really not rather a positive, unless...
we can get them ALL on something. Bush is an "empty suit". Impeach him without getting to the "lines" on down, could be a domino effect, but, I wouldn't count on the the House or Senate to fly that way!

:-)

13. Impeaching any of them would be a win.
The rest would be quaking in their wingtips, lest they be targeted next.

14. The important thing is to get rid of B*sh. Very few other Repukes
seem to have his goofy, any-idjit-can-beecum-Preznit appeal. Even if Cheney wanted to take over as President after B*sh's second term, the scowling ass-clown just doesn't have what it takes to inspire the idiot worshippers on the right. They could just all stay home in Nov. 2008. That would certainly help us.

15. Line of sucession goes
President
Vice-president
Speaker of House
President of the Senate

Cabinet Members in order of their department's founding

Secretary of State
Secretary of Treasury
Secretary of Defense
Attorney General

and so on

So who is the President of the Senate now that it was discovered that ol' Strom had been dead? Is it Ted Stevens?
