The power of verbs
you notice how all of the rats jumping off the Bush ship is called a "shakeup", while Democratic resignations are called an "exodus"?

If anything, what's happening here is the ultimate exodus - I can't recall so many people resigning from an administration in such a short time frame.

I know its normal to have some cabinet members leave, but the current round of resignations we are seeing appear anything but "normal".

These are nouns, not verbs. But your point about the semantic choices is very well taken.

2. Right after the election, they said there would be "some"
changes, but that they'd be gradual. Now we've had half the cabinet up and leave within a month after the election. Personally, I can't remember this many resignations in such a short time, and it just feels like rats jumping from a sinking ship. (Maybe they don't want to be blamed as * squanders his "political capital.")
