Ba ha ha ha ha! Someone's pushing shirts with that county map...
...that supposedly shows that Bush* has such a mandate, when we know and they know that barren land doesn't have voting rights.

I can't wait until I see someone try to actually wear this somewhere.

10. I think one with the "psychedelic" map would be cool.
Edited on Fri Dec-10-04 12:53 PM by LoZoccolo
There's one where individual counties are scaled by population, and shaded on a continuum from blue to red.

It would also be cool because the conservatives know we want everyone to take drugs.

13. Do they make those shirts in "Khaki Camo"?
They'll look fabulous on the Bushistas as they march off to Chimperor's Great War.

14. DON'T LAUGH
That map should be very carefully studied. I fully understand the population density counter-argument, but that map (even more than the red state-blue state map) show us places where we could stand to improve our organization and our approach.

15. Oh, I agree.

You'll find that I actually really enjoy coming up with strategy and what-not, rather than just raging against these people.

But the idea they try to promote with this map, that somehow Bush* has a huge mandate based on the fact that the counties where he leads take up a lot of space, is lame. It tries to hide the real margin between the candidates, which was close. It's actually could be interpreted as being disparaging to our system of democracy in a way - does it imply that people who own the most land should have more of a say? It actually wouldn't even be effective at promoting that idea, since we don't know how much of that space is public or corporate-owned land!

16. Most of that land
is owned by the US government, not by the residents of the "reddest" states of Idaho, Wyoming, and Utah. They are often extreme antigovernment types based on some of policies of the Bureau of Land Management. Federal employees of BLM in those states often have to go armed.
