Olbermann (MSNBC 'Countdown') is not letting us down COMPLETELY
Edited on Mon Dec-13-04 08:07 PM by AirAmFan
tonight, after a so-far TOTAL cable/news whiteout of John Conyers's election crime hearings in Columbus today.

While "worst Xmas songs" and the Chattanooga reporter who set up Rummmie are getting top billing (see http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3036677 ), and Scott Peterson and the Kerik nomination are not far behind, Conyers' hearing apparently is going to get some air time.

Two seconds of Conyers gesticulating at a lectern was part of the "tease" in the first 30 seconds of tonight's show (8pm and midnight NY time), and there was a glimpse of John Kerry waving to cameras too..

1. I think Keith is gonna kick it big time tonight;
it was also about the 2nd story he mentioned. And did you catch the worst X-mas song, worst line in a movie, etc., he also mentioned? Me thinks he's been hangin' in the lounge as well!

2. How is covering it letting us down at all?
KO's still doing more than anyone else.

Oh... We mentioned Keith. Crispini requires that we female KO fans float the hearts! :loveya:

:)

6. OK, I confess. Among we real-news 'orphans', I am ungratelful, with a bad,
David-Copperfield attitude. I know we all should be eternally grateful for every scrap of real news thrown our way. But, my reaction tends to be, "Please sir, can I have some more?"

Seriously, KO exceeded my expectations tonight, with more than 10 minutes of coverage of the story we all went online for today. He cleverly did not advertise in advance that he was going to give "dissidents" more than 10 minutes, so that the show would not attract freepers who saw the "Hardball" lead-in, and we had to wait half an hour to get what we wanted.

3. The story about the elector who voted Edwards for Prez (nice move, idiot)
and about Conyers saying laws may have been broken in doing the recount - sounds like the lockdown on the poll books.

4. I hope you are not disappointed
But I look for him to soft peddle it, cause he did get the memo.

5. Well there it was

If you blinked you missed it, 5 seconds sandwiched between all the kookie stories.

On edit there is more, "but not much" .

7. I disagree
That was the best coverge on the issue I've seen in some time. The statements from Howard Fineman in support of election transparency were particularly good.

What I am disappointed with is the lack of the much discussed "bombshell" that was supposed to be coming today. I keep waiting for the forces to offer up some evidence that is hard to ignore. I still haven't seen it come down the pipeline.

8. The vote scandal is being soft-pedaled now.
It's being put lower in KO's show list. One of these days (soon, I'm sorry to say) it is going to disappear altogether. Everything just seemed to fizzle the past week or so. Even the threads here are fewer and less meaty, and sink quickly.

9. You are right
I spoke too soon.
That is what happens when I get discouraged and angry.
I should know better by now.
