18. Tell you what.
I'll run as a Republican. Then, once I'm elected, I'll unmask as a liberal. I'll legalize marijuana, ban guns, end the Iraq War, let gays marry, etc. with my very first executive order.

MWAAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!

22. Even the DLC is not suggesting the party move rightward anymore
Get with the times.

In 1992, the DLC suggested we move rightward, we did and we won. But that was yesterday's news. The DLC is not out there supporting SS privatization or outlawing abortion.

Get it right. There are substantial number of voters that agree on policy with DLC thinking and if we aren't competing for those voters, we ain't gonna win, and this game is about winning.

We don't have to pursue DLC types based on ideology, but we can appeal to it based on values and language and much the way Clinton did, appeal to the conservative value, but amplify a liberal governance in the process. Good example is increasing the Earned Income Tax Credit while raising taxes on the rich and "Mend It, Don't End It" on affirmative action.

I know you all hate hearing examples of this strategy working --but it simply does work!

Edited on Fri Dec-17-04 09:36 AM by Cheswick2.0
they are all about moving right and doing the bidding of big business.
Yes there are people who agree with their philosophy, we call them republicans.

Wassup? You just keep on posting on your own thread to keep it alive. Keep promoting that we all join the DLC. I guess we'll have to donate money to them then.

26. "You can say it all you want, doesn't make it true" --Al Gore 1992
The DLC are not Republicans, they are not demanding the party move right and they are not advocating the Republican party line. They are more business-friendly than many Democrats, but that doesn't make them Republicans. For years, many liberal Democrats were ardently pro-business because their core voters were blue collar workers.

The DLC is not our problem. I believe even Howard Dean subscribed to their positions throughout most of his term as Vermont governor.

34. Thanks for the polls
It seems crazy to me that the DLC continues to ignore the facts. Then when you consider the possibility that losing is really their preference, it all seems to make sense.
