Where does the media FIND these Dem weenies?
I live in Michigan. While we elect lotsa Repukes, we have a governor (Granholm) who is a strong woman, and 2 US Senators (Stabenow & Levin) who are tough as nails. Local Dems speak their minds.

I look at Dems across the country: even Harry Reid (and Daschle before him) says SOME things that are tough.

But the media has this HUGE reserve of milquetoast Dems, many of whom we have NEVER heard of, whose sole job is to appear and be beat on by conservatives. I mean, yeah, Estrich and Colmes and Lieberman and a few others, I can accept. But apparently there are thousands of Dems who spring out of nowhere for the sole purpose of appearing . . . exactly like the GOP claims.

Is there a breeding farm somewhere? Are these really GOP-ites in disguise? How can there be so many? One could pick any 100 people who voted for Kerry last month, and ANY of them would come off with more spine than these guys and gals.

I simply cannot understand it.

2. I completely agree
I turn on the TV and I see a "Democratic Organizer" or a "Democratic Strategist" who can barely put together a simple thought. They always butcher the message and act unsure of themselves under pressure from the pundits. Fox must go out of its way to find these idiots.

3. reminds me of the situation a decade ago on talk shows...
when they would have the "male" perspective, and it was always this guy who insisted on wearing a skirt as part of his male emancipation, a clueless male chauvanist who was a hyperbolic parody, and a completely milquetoast henpecked guy....and these were the constant counterpoints to the female point of view, represented by articulate and competent females.

It was cathartic theatre. It allowed the audience and the viewers to vent their frustration at emasculated figments. Because they were in POWER through the talk show host, they could create these huge imbalances as ways to justify their stereotypes comfortably.

Which is not to say a balanced discussion of equal representatives was not desirable, it just didn't occur for a LONG TIME. Normal, capable representatives of the male gender were not shown because they were not NEEDED. It was all about shifting the pendulum a certain way in order to address the need for some women to villify, belittle and marginalize men, in order to empower themselves.

Things did change later, and Oprah was good about restoring that balance, for example..

But I think the reason we are seeing emasculated dems is because THAT'S THE POINT. Republicans would not fare so well in discussion on equal terms, and they need to feel empowered. That doesn't work so well if you have to be on fair terms with your opponents.

Its all about power, and its all about overcompensation. Since most RW talking points don't hold up to logical scrutiny, you need to have dems who don't attempt to force RW pundits to JUSTIFY their illogic.

4. Sadly, this time I don't think it's the media.
The party is full of spineless weenies, it's as simple as that. I can count the Democratic politicians who have a pair on one hand, maybe two hands, and two of those are women.

6. Many of us aren't spineless weenies
The issue is that the media only books our Spineless Weenie Council's members.

I know for a fact that Luca Brazza is a Dem ... and he's available. But no one calls.
