These Democrats are heathens, anti-Christ, almost
could be the reaction of RWers, seeking excuses, of course, if they would stumble onto this thread http://www.ocregister.com/ocr/2004/12/20/sections/commentary/commentary_columns/article_348280.php asking how, or whether, DUers decorate their homes for the holidays.

OK, so 31 votes not a poll makes, but 10 - 39% - chose the "absolutely nothing" response... oh how nice a fodder this would provide.

And, yes, this year there is not much to celebrate for us and here in Minnesota the skies have been cloudy since... since before the elections and no snow on the ground and everything is just dreary and then I read that it is really unsafe, not to mention expensive, to have the lights on constantly, as from Thanksgiving to January 2nd.

My neighbor across the street, who had a Bush Cheney yard sign for a few days, just put a major show during the weekend, including the reindeers on the front lawn. The lights are still on..

Oh well..

1. I'd say 39% of the houses in my neighborhood have absolutely no decoration

In fact, driving around, at least 39% of the houses are not decorated.

2. I didn't decorate, but I have many reasons why
1. I'm allergic to the trees (Yes, I have a fake one but....)

2. I have a wild kitten that would tear it up

3. Due to the financial situation, I have no extra room in my slightly small trailer to put a tree.

I could go on....It has nothing to do with the season.

3. My neighborhood puts lights up on Thanksgiving
and generally puts the "ACK!!" in "tacky." This year, a week before Xmas, people are just starting to put lights up, and most of those people who have them up are simply not turning them on.

My guess is that the hood will be lit up for two nights, and that's it.

This is a poor area, and the store of choice is Walmart. Their parking lot has been half empty every day I've gone by, and that is unheard of. People really aren't spending this year.

4. I just put out a string of lights
to light up the porch when I come home from work at night...otherwise there are so many lights and shit on the houses and front lawns around here, it's beginning to look like Vegas, really tacky...

5. I don't decorate much either...
Me and my wife both work fulltime and we have very active girls (basketball, softball, clogging, etc.). We do good to get the inside of the house ready in time for x-mas, much less outside. Also, eople here get caught up in a silly race against the neighbors - to spend the most money to have the most decorated houses. All the plastic figurines in the yards are gaudy in my opinion, not to mention all the extra electricity used up for no real benefit.

We still have Christmas, but count me out if my yard has to look like a Vegas strip to show my spirit.

6. My daughter wanted lights outside, so she did them herself.
Inside, we have just the tree. Nothing else. I have boxes of things I normally put up. Not in the mood this year with the state our nation is in, not to mention the state Iraq is in and those unfortunates that are being detained indefinitely at Guantanamo Bay.
