At what point does a woman obtain her Humanity?
When do women become full members of society capable of making medical and ethical decisions? When do people(mostly men)stop thinking women are evil and must be controlled? When will women be granted the elevated status of fetuses? We will ever have the same rights as sperm and fertilized eggs?
Will there ever be a day in GD politics when the fate of women is as worried about as a already dead fetus which might be aborted in the 7th month of pregnancy?
2006, 2007, 2025?

3. thank you Cheswick
I tried posting my own thread on this, but it's sinking fast.

Abortion has ALWAYS occurred and ALWAYS WILL occur. Roe v. Wade is about women's rights to a safe, sterile MEDICAL procedure.

My next question? When will people stop using the term "pro-life"? It's demeaning and degrading and usually hypocritical!

4. We fight for it and never stop. We reject out of hand those who would
control us. We stop thinking of rights as something to be "given" to us. Assert your rights and the rest will fall into place.

7. That is exactly how I feel
That's why I don't care if people understand my POV. I learned a long time ago that you explain yourself once, then one more time to be certain the person heard you. After that they person is being selectively deaf. I use that same standard even for little children.

fear causes them to attack. it is very predictable. wierd how so many men get off on lesbian porn. they are terrified by the cave from which they came

6. Women are second class citizens in our constitution . . .
Women are second class citizens in our constitution and will remain so unless and until the passage of the "Equal Rights Amendment" (ERA) is made a part of our U.S. constitution:

"Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex." -- Equal Rights Amendment

9. it's competing values - both valid
but at some point one must give way to the other...

at some point that fetus becomes almost identical to a baby...

then it has some rights, and society has an interest in how such abortions occur...

Clinton himself would have signed the PBA ban if it had exemptions for the health and life of the mom, that's reasonable, common sense.

10. Rights are not values.
As a woman I should have every right over my body as a man has over his own. This issue has nothing to do with values.

11. As long as I am the "host" body for that fetus
what becomes of that fetus is my choice, not yours, not anyone's. It's about women's rights over their bodies. And I'm going to stop beating my head against your brick wall. It makes my head bloody and you remain stuck in your position.

and PBA (partial birth abortion) is a made up term, used by the rw to obfuscate the issue.
