Dean Supporters Check In...
I know we've lost a few Dean supporters who have chosen to leave DU because of their displeasure with the atmosphere. I'd like to know who has stuck around, so please let your presence be known!

Thanks!

DU isn't any kind of place to actually campaign for Dean. But you can get info on other campaigns and a good flow of news, as well as some research and background.

When passions run high, there are those who decided that their time was better spent elsewhere, having previously found more support and comraderie on DU. -I think it's always as much the loss of that as any other reason.

You may not really be able to judge this election by the previous ones because this is the first time that so much information has been available to so many.

We don't know what will happen, especially considering that Dean is breaking all kinds of conventionalisms anyway!

37. I have no problem with other folks liking another candidate...

I do have a problem with the anybody but Dean folks being allowed to use DU as a resource, not to promote their candidate, but to tear down Dean.

DU is being used to organize against the democratic frontrunner... and we know that the folks doig this are not just supporters of other candidates but repukes as well trying to foment hostility between dems. And the DU folks are allowing it because Dean is the target.

I can not support that effort.

It bothers me that I have to choose between DU and Dean, but it seems to have come to that... and Dean wins that fight hands down.

Never mind. Dean will not win, especially with this kind of McCarthyism. It's a good thing that people are beginning to wake up - and see the that Howard Brush Dean III is the flip side of the coin that is George Walker Bush.

I do not have fear. I have hope.

I'm here, but I'm very discouraged. The tone of this campaign already sucks. I am very fearful that we are sabotaging ourselves - and will hand the election to Bush through our own stupidity.

I fear that 2004 may be my last year as a Democrat. If we screw this up, I'll leave the party.

All 70% of the Dems against Dean seem to be on this website. :)

I know that supporters of candidates must feel justified somehow, and I know that Dean is the frontrunner so it's to be expected, but the general attitude here is pretty ugly. Every negative thing that's said about Dean in the press is repeated here as if it's proof of Dean's unworthiness. It's boring and a waste of time, so I mostly just lurk now.

Edited on Sun Dec-21-03 06:58 PM by TLM
The clark folks put the call out on Clark blogs for a flood of Clark supporters to flood DU, attacking Dean, and pushing Clark.

There are still plenty of Dean supporters here... but we're ass deep in loud noobs from the Clark blogs. There's no converting these folks. They're not here for honest debate or for exchange of ideas... rather they are here to attack Dean and promote Clark.

And a good number of freepers have taken this opening as a chance to create hostility between dems by coming here and pretending to support a candidate, then just generaly being abrasive assholes.

Frankly I think the best thing we can do is simply leave DU until the mods decide to actualy enforce DU rules about attacking democrats.

Since I doubt that will happen until after the primaries are over... I think most Dean folks will be going to other places for a while.

zidzi reporting for duty! Been busy getting sigs for Dean to be on the New York Primary ballot!

Though I've become disenchanted with DU lately. Too much censorship and too much mindlessness.

I lurk mostly. The atmosphere here is pretty toxic and I don't need the grief. I'd rather do something positive like registering voters or talking to real life people than reading Democrats describe how unelectable the Democratic frontrunner is.

I mostly lurk and now even less with the same old, tired, toxic lies being thrown around about Dean. But, I am trying to stick it out.

84. I'm here now but not for long
This place has become a nightmare what with all the campaigns running opposition to Dean on this board and all the Rethugs doing the same. There are other and better places on the net if your're interested in information on Dr. Dean and there are much better things to do with your time if you're already a Dean supporter and want to see him elected.

Even the once glorious LBN has become a empty shell with some top stories like the Campaign Finance decision going unnoticed for hours as the principal energies on the board are directed against Howard Dean.

My thinking is, let these combatants destroy each other while the more reasonable among us get to work electing the next Democratic president of the United States.

98. I've left several times for extended period over the Dean bashing
It seems to come in waves, and aside from the usual suspects who we all know, new waves come in with low post counts, pounding out republican talking points. Frankly, a lot of it is juvenile, though the points are always so similar that I can't help but think some organized effort is at work. maybe from the old draft Clark people- but probably also from republicans as well.

Disgusted by the quadrennial cannibalism that is the Democratic Party - amplified here on DU for our enjoyment.

Thank God the votes begin next month. Pary unity can't come soon enough for me.

Keep your eyes on the prize!

Was designing a Dean Meetup ad last night to go into a local publication that my DTC uses for it's ads during election season. Have to come up with another option tonight, but am busy preparing for my town's 1st official Meetup and am aiming to attract those who have no Internet access, which there are a lot of in our town.

Tonight I'm taking a mini-break from Dean Campaing work -- going out to dinner and then see Lord of the Rings: Return of the King with a pro-Dean friend from work.

Go Dean!
Lord of the Roots, who shares his power!
