'Art for Armor'

An electronic billboard near the entrance to New York City's Holland Tunnel to New Jersey, December 22, 2004 as an image of a painted portrait of U.S. President George W. Bush (news - web sites) is projected. Painted by artist Christopher Savido, the work 'Bush Monkeys,' painted using monkeys to form the image, was banished from an art show in New York last week amid charges of censorship and is now being projected on the billboard and auctioned on Ebay with part of the proceeds donated to the artist' 'Art for Armor' cause to help parents of U.S. soldiers wishing to supply their sons and daughters with body armor in Iraq (news - web sites). 1. I am thrilled with the irony of how things worked out for this painting
and the artist, after the idiot who owned the space where it was being shown made the artist take it down. It might never have been seen by more than a couple of hundred people if it had been left hanging in its original spot....and now, it has world-wide attention. I just love it!!!

You are bidding on an original painting by Chris Savido entitled "Bush Monkeys." The work was executed in acrylic on canvas and measures 15" x 20", 18" x 24" with black wood frame.

The auction is brought to you by ANIMAL MAGAZINE and Chris Savido, and administered in conjunction with Fractal LLC.

The painting is a portrait of President Bush composed of a band of chimpanzees, and symbolically reflects the artist's frustrations with the Bush Administration. The image has stirred international controversy since the ANIMAL magazine art show containing it was censored by New York's Chelsea Market a week ago.

Mr. Savido, 23, is an emerging artist from Pittsburgh who recently graduated from the Syracuse University art program. He lives and works in New York City.

A large portion of the proceeds of this auction will be used to fund two ANIMAL charity initiatives:

1) Art for Armor, a program that assists parents of soldiers in Iraq to provide their children with body armor, and

2) Art for Eduction, a scholarship fund for disadvantaged youth who wish to pursue a career in the arts.

Full information about the painting, Chris, the programs, the auction and ANIMAL MAGAZINE is listed at www.animalnewyork.com.

Please ask any questions through the EBAY question engine, and/or email us at info@animalnewyork.com

Thank you for your support.
