insurgents who bombed mess tent responsible for 9/11, General Myers says
This is the kind of of stupidity were are up against:

SEC. RUMSFELD: Well -- ...I think that we've seen attacks like this previously in the country. Remember the attack on the U.N. team that was there when Mr. de Mello was killed? There have been other instances of it. It's a tragedy. The loss of life is just heartbreaking.

Dick, do you want to add anything?

GEN. MYERS: You bet.

This attack, of course, is the responsibility of insurgents, the same insurgents who attacked on 9/11, the same type of insurgents who attacked in Beirut, the same insurgents who -- type of insurgents who attacked the Cole, Khobar Towers, and the list goes on. So the way you prevent this is you win the war against the extremists, and I've talked about that at length myself. And I'm not saying that's a war in a sense that the military can do this, but that's how we do this. We make this kind of extremism, this kind of action, which shows no moral boundaries -- because while this was an attack against coalition forces, U.S. forces and contractors in Mosul, we've seen attacks on children in Baghdad and Iraqi citizens. So the way we prevent this is we win, and that's what we're going to do.

whether appropriate or not. They're terrorists, or extremists or guerrillas, and they certainly weren't insurgents who carried out 911.

12. Is this really the way they think?
When are they going to come right out and say that they are using our young service people for bait. And do they really believe that the terrorists are all going to be drawn to Iraq? That they all will take the bait?

Our "leaders" need to start using common sense.

13. "Our leaders" and "common sense" in same sentence...
Those words just don't seem to go together. I am amazed at the bullshit that this administration can constantly come up with. Just when you think they can sink no lower -- they sink lower!!

Bush has fucked this country -- we are going to be in Iraq for a long, long time.

14. guess he believes americans are the dumbest..
folks on the earth..just change reality over and over and just feed it to us...and we say..OK thanks again..we got it !! And the really sad thing about it, is that it appears to be a true assessment of the general american intelligence.

17. Terrorists and Insurgents
Are they always the same?

Was the person that blew himself up in the Mess Hall a terrorist or an Insurgent?

These statements are puposeful dis-information. By bluring the lines the military and the U.S. Govt. is purposefully attempting to brainwash the world that the Insurgency in Iraq are all terrorists, not actual Insurgents that are fighting to rid Iraq of of U.S. Colonialism.

16. So "you prevent this by winning the war against extremists"
which would mean you prevent people from starting something by...doing something to make them retaliate? But then he admits that "we make this kind of extremism"...does he know what he's trying to say? We're against the extremists but we cause it...and we win the war before it gets started. Uh, okay. (Should have paid more attention in that damn "circular reasoning class" I guess.)

21. ...
*gulp*

I'll step out on a limb and try to explain what my fellow Airman was trying to convey:

"This attack, of course, is the responsibility of insurgents, the same insurgents who attacked on 9/11, the same type of insurgents who attacked in Beirut, the same insurgents who -- type of insurgents who attacked the Cole, Khobar Towers, and the list goes on. So the way we prevent this is we win, and that's what we're going to do."

I think what's he's equating, is that insurgents = terrorists, and if we can defeat the Iraqi insurgency, we'll be on the road to defeating the terrorists.

Speaking for myself, I'd have to respectfully disagree with the CJCS. I think the only way to defeat terrorism is to not further provke terrorists, but maybe try a new way of things, e.g., perhaps try to understand what the hell they're so pissed about, and maybe try to fix that.

As for his statement of

"...because while this was an attack against coalition forces, U.S. forces and contractors in Mosul, we've seen attacks on children in Baghdad and Iraqi citizens."

I'd have to remind Gen. Myers that American and Coalition munitions have more than likely killed more children and Iraqi citizens than the VBIEDS, mortars, AK-47 fire, etc.

24. Meyers is a case of someone who
was told to "talk now," and he followed orders, just letting words drop from his lips, whether or not they made sense. Rummy does this often when he doesn't know what the hell to say himself.
