Poll question: Why do you think people voted for the Chimp?
What could motivate anybody to vote for this idiot?

1. As Bill Clinton said, "they'd rather have someone who is strong and wrong,
than weak and right."

10. American people tend to mistake
arrogant swaggering, and bullying for strength. He does have those traits. I guess they impressed enough people.

5. they mistake rigidity for strength
I think they believe starting wars, acting like a bully will frighten "terrorists". Not bloody likely.

3. For the same question I think my options would have been four
Because they're ignorant.
Because they're criminal.
Because of the voting software.
Because of the voting hardware.

14. Exactly, but in 2000, they said they did not like Gore
I think many people went looking for reasons to vote against whoever the Democratic nominee would be. If Kerry defended his Senate record, it did not get much media play.

12. Chimp voters are ignorant,
uninformed, misinformed, and, in some cases, just plain stupid. I place much of the blame on the US media for feeding people a diet of lowbrow scandal dressed up as "news." It's criminal that Scott Peterson is a household name. A flip around the cable dial tells you all you need to know about why chimp voters don't think. Their brains have atrophied from massive exposure to FAUX propaganda, Beverly Hillbillies reruns, Benny Hinn, and infomercials selling them every kind of crap imaginable.

Yesterday on the road between LA and Las Vegas I was passed by a steady stream of gas guzzling SUVs festooned with multiple "Support our Troops" magnets and chimp/cheney stickers. America has become a nation of lemmings blindly following a braindead idiot over a cliff into a very dark abyss.

You know it's true. Why let reality get in the way when Arnold, God and the President give them license to deny it? Did you know that Saddam caused 9/11 and that Kerry's daughter is a lesbian?

24. Different reasons...
Some believe he'll protect us from some evil, some believe he's big and strong and therefore the right choice for President, some see something of themselves in him: bigotry and discrimination (which come from an irrational fear of other people), and insecurities about their "faults" (trouble speaking in public, for example). He's just like them, and that's what they want: a buddy President.

outplayed and outpropagandized.

Karl Rove successfully painted Kerry to be a Viet Cong-loving traitor who wanted to make Americans start speaking French. They made Kerry's wife look like an idiot with a royalty complex. They made Michael Moore look like an America-hating traitor (OK, so the conspiracy BS helped).

We failed at that game. Who did we trot out and make sport of in the eyes of America? Nobody. Rush Limbaugh? Free pass. Sean Hannity? Free pass. Pat Robertson? Free pass.

We should have won the election easily over such a weak candidate with an apporval rating under 50%. I cannot believe how badly our side played the game.

I think it's better for us in the long run to be realistic about it instead of rationalizing that the other side is merely dumber than we are.

27. that's no excuse
Immigrants whose priests tell them in spanish that they'll fry if they vote for Kerry (abortion, natch) might have an excuse; middle-class whites don't. It's just self-delusion.

That's it and everything else revolves directly around voting against s stinkin' librul. You see, only a Presidential candidate is a stinkin' librul. That local guy, well, he's registered as a Democrat, but he doesn't stick to party lines.
