Cancel the Inauguration?
Why not? Nobody cares outside his rich base......

From:

http://www.thecarpetbaggerreport.com/archives/003225.html

...snip...

After FDR was elected to a fourth term in 1944, World War II was not yet over. Believing that a lavish display of celebration would be inappropriate given the circumstances, Roosevelt hosted a simple and understated inaugural ceremony at the White House in January 1945. As far as I can tell, it was the only time a president was inaugurated indoors and in private.

...snip...

Somehow it is obscene for party goers to be dancing the Texas Two Step at the Black Tie and Boots Ball while across town young men and women are struggling to walk again at Walter Reed and Bethesda Naval.

He can have the private swearing in at Walter Reed !

3. Well it is not like WW2 when it comes to this.
Try as they do I do not think they can make this WW2. It will also just look bad to the world. Did any one see in the paper some rich man just bought a house for 45 million dollars. An American, more than we are giving for people who have lost all. He said he just fell in love with it. See yesterdays NYT.

4. many of the young people cant afford to go!
from the NY Times:

Planners for President Bush's inauguration next month have scheduled a full lineup of exclusive parties and receptions for top Republican fund-raisers. But some of those V.I.P.'s say the perks come with a price tag they cannot afford.http://www.nytimes.com/2004/12/31/politics/31money.html

5. Watch the Homeland Security Alert Color
as the inauguration approaches. It may even drop a color, since nothing can possibly interfere with this auspicious event :eyes:

7. He should never have scheduled all the hoopla
The parites and celebrations are in poor taste while we're losing soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. Especially now with the tremendous loss of life and property in Southern Asia.

That being said, I had every intention of attending Kerry's inaugural. Would I feel the same way if my plans were curtailed? I'd like to think so but ... I just don't know. I hate to think I'm being hypocritical.
