She is young and doesn't have a clue we live in Neo-Con central. Her voice is the kind of voice that travels a long way. You should of seen the looks on those peoples faces! Not one word was spoken and if looks could kill, I wouldn't be typing this! I have to say though, I had NO PROBLEM whatsoever returning their NASTY looks! As always the cowards were the first to look away! Out of the mouths of babes many a revolution has been formed.

3. The new Democrat's Tourette's syndrome, irresistible bush diatribes!
We should all do that, perhaps in the store, at the theater, in church, social gatherings, just suddenly shout, "I hate george w. bush" and then quickly say, "It's Tourette's syndrome."

Of course, if you have a bad case of Tourette's, you can yell, "F*** george w. bush!"

19. I've had two Tourette's-like public outbursts
and both times I was taken aback by my own behavior because I usually go about my business in public with invisibility shields up. Both times it happened in line at the grocery store (2 different stores, a week apart) and both times I was accosted by wingnuts wanting to engage me in hailing our fearless leader. In the most recent one the guy behind me in line grabs the Time magazine with it's triumphal Chimp of the year rendering and waves it in my face saying "It's about time we had a president we can be proud of!" My respone: "that's your opnion" set him off on a loud diatribe, which consisted mostly of variations on the "democrats are communists" theme.

(To these people, the fall of Communism must have been tragic, like their favorite dog getting run over. So they got a new puppy but it's just not the same, no matter now much they try to convince themselves. Apparently it takes more than wishful thinking to turn a "spineless, wishy-washy" Democrat into a credible Communist threat to the free world -- even in the irrational, contradictory wingnut universe.)

Oh and he also said democrats want to make it illegal to utter the words "Merry Christmas" I shit you not, he was completely serious. Congratulations Pigboy and Falafelboy, on successfully programming your audience of Chatty Cathy dolls -- one quick pull of their strings and they can repeat the same senseless phrases for hours of zany fun.

So instead of shrugging off this guy's verbal abuse I felt the blood pounding in my head and started arguing loudly. It shouldn't have come as a surprise that this guy still thinks Saddam Hussein was responsible for 9-11. I told him, even Bush has said that's not true, and "he wouldn't lie to us now would he?" He also didn't have an answer when I asked him "how do you feel about tax cuts for the rich?"

But whenever he didn't know what else to say he simply kicked it up a notch with the communist accusations. I told him I hadn't come to the store so someone could stand there and call me a communist and to fuck off. I'm not proud of this, as I feel it made me look as incoherent as my opponent. But at least he left me alone then, taking the Time magazine and accosting the guy who'd come up behind him in line. I left then, but not before noticing the look of chagrin on his new victim's face when the magazine cover was waved in front of him.

Mind you, normally I go out of my way to avoid conflict, being far more inclined to keep silent and keep the peace. But this has happened twice now. And both times, it drove me nuts to have assholes walk up to me in public and start spewing comments that would be highly insulting to half the population of the country. Is it that they feel emboldened since the election? Or is it an expression of defensiveness, possibly brought about by the deteriorating situation in Iraq? And how best to handle it if it happens again?

6. Children so often lead the way
My little brother who is 12 came home the other day happy as Larry because he got an A in English class with an anti Bush poem that he wrote. The actual homework that they got was to write apoem about an event in the news that was imoprtant to you.

I didnt know that he even cared about politics so i was pleasently surprised.

22. Were English
Edited on Fri Dec-31-04 04:48 PM by TyeDye75
So the teacher definately wasnt a Bushbot... I actually had the same teacher for English when I was at the same school... she is very anti war and is a campign volunteer for the liberal democrats.

Here is his poem.

The Chorus of chickenhawk war crys,
are justified with flat out lies.

Weapons of mass descruction WMD,
because an invasion doesnt come for free.

No more blood no more oil,
fight the good fight on your own soil.

Right here is where the battle starts
they can cloud our minds but theyll never win our hearts.

Air strikes are precise so lock your door,
and enjoy the splendour of shock and awe.

No more questions wrong or right,
as young men die in an old mans fight.

A race to occupy Baghdad battle stations,
and declare the end of major combat operations.

Sadaams bronze head wrapped in the same flag,
that now adorns a 1000 body bags.

As we ponder the next dead young man,
ask yourself,
what about north korea and iran.

PS hes a big eminem fan so I think he may have stolen the blood for oil line. I let him off though.

13. I do actually tell my kids and my kids friends that people like them
have the power to change the world. I might have gone a little overboard though, a little fear is a good thing. I hope someday one of them will have the courage to do just that! My niece though, I really can't take a lot of credit for. she is just another died in the wool liberal as are most of my family members. The credit goes to the entire family atmosphere she grows up in.

8. my daughter had a grocery store moment, too
She's a little older (17), but still funny as hell. In the checkout line shortly before the election, she announced loudly that her friend's dad thinks Bush is the anti-Christ sent down by aliens. Then she asked if I thought that was true.

I said the first thing that popped into my head, "You mean do I think it's completely true?"

I thought the guy ahead of us was going to pop a vein in his forehead.

14. Niece is 16 daughter 15, son 11...
they all regularly voice their opinions regarding Bush. My daughter has gotten a little attention by some of her teachers for her papers on Bush. Her Am. Gov't teacher tells her he can't wait for her next one every time she writes one. She doesn't have the dramatic voice though that my niece does. I have had to scold my son for using the hate word though, I would prefer he uses a different word. EVIL is fine with me, but hate gives power to those that it's used against. I don't discourage them much from talking about it in public but I do worry a little that they might attract the attention of some of these bubba style fundies we've got living around here. Some of them can be pretty radical!

In fact, one of the neighborhood kids was arrested for stealing Kerry signs. His sister is a die hard Kerry supporter, but the rest of the family are rethugs. We all had a good laugh over that one. His stupid answer to the cop that arrested him "I was just straightening it" had me in a fit of giggles for several days, since the back of his truck was heaped w/ Kerry signs! No word on the punishment yet, I imagine community service.

9. I live in Neo-Con east coast region.
While out Christmas shopping I noticed that practically every store was selling the yellow "support your troops" ribbon stickers. Now, of course, I support the troops...as we all do here...by wanting them home where they belong! Standing in a long line at a gift shop, I heard conversation behind me about how George and Laura were being so brave trying to have a nice Christmas while they were in such pain over the suffering of our troops. Seething inside, I got to my turn at the check out and the saleslady tried to sell me one of the stickers. In my fantasy where I am brave and strong I said (loudly): "No thank you...but if you have any 'Fuck Bush' stickers, I'll take a dozen!" In reality I gave her a very cold "nope!" I wish I had the balls your niece does!!!

16. My niece would have deifinately had no problem telling someone that, but
I think. it's partly because kids haven't experienced all of the disappointment adults have that keeps them from having a little worry about doing things like that. I wish I had the guts too, but defending my kids and thier friends keeps me busy enough!

24. Excellent! My hubbie and I do the same!
We live in Arizona, where a huge majority of uneducated bigots like Joe Arpaio live. Google Sheriff Arpaio if you're bored - the guy actually makes G.W. Bush seem enlightened, I kid you not!

Anyways, we love to stir up things at supermarket checkouts by chatting about how cruel and uncompassionate Bush is for a so-called Christian (*lots* of churches in Arizona), citing examples that are impossible to refute or news that didn't make the mainstream.

We figure if people hear us speaking out against injustice and tyranny, they might not feel so frightened to do the same.

Oh, and it's EXTRA points when there's small children around to overhear us!

28. How old is the child?
I mean, is she old enough to really have a coherent reason to "hate Bush?" I'm sure you've seen the link to the 12 year old twin white supremacist singers. I do tell my children why I have the bumper stickers I have on my car (Impeach Bush, Real Americans Don't Start Wars, etc.) but I don't want them spouting "hate", ever, and especially until they are old enough to have enough of a contest to make decisions on such things.

I spent the weekend with the family. She was happy to hear it's not just our family, extended and large though it may be, that can't stand the man! I do agree she has far more mental capacity than our fearless leader and she also knows that HER generation will be paying a high price indeed, if those of us who are old enough to stop him in his tracks don't do something NOW! I do believe our kids are gearing up for another revolution and they need our help!

29. good for your niece
the night before election, i was making my rounds to my family to remind them how close Ohio would be and that they HAD to vote, and my niece said "you know, we get to vote tomorrow too" (her school was holding an "election" as part of their civics lesson I'm guessing) Anyway, I asked her who she was voting for, she said "John Kerry" with a big smile. (She thought she was really casting a vote in the election - soooo cute) All of a sudden, i had this "A League of Their Own" moment....... We're Gonna Win!!!! I don't know why she gave me such confidence, but it really warmed my heart - she's 9. Unfortunately, I remembered later, the Peaches lost when Gina Davis dropped the ball at home plate. Wednesday.......sooooo sad.

A few of the faithful in my community congregate every Tuesday.

During the election it was to support Kerry/Edwards. Now it is to stop the war and anti-Bush.

One of the signs recently said "Honk if you are against the Iraq war". I loved the sound of all those horns honking.

Wouldn't it be great to see signs all over the country that say HONK IF YOU HATE BUSH. Ah, cacaphony on the freeways (freeway blogging), or at major intersections...
