Poll question: How is the Democratic Party Doing Since the Election ??
We all want to see a stronger, more effective Democratic Party. Some on DU criticize the Party for doing nothing and not acting as an opposition party. Some defend the party and respect those in control of it.

Please answer the following poll question with a sense of how you think the Party is being perceived by the American people since the election.

BTW, some may be tempted to believe the Party is doing better because bush is doing worse. Even if that's true, I for one think the Democrats will need to have their own positive vision to take to the American people and that "anti-bush" will not be good enough ... Remember, we won't be running against an incumbent in 2008 ... and we also have to start crafting a message and a strategy for 2006 ...

With that in mind, how is the Democratic Party doing since the election ??

(please add some text along with your answer so this poll doesn't just fade away like an invisible donkey)

1. Everything sucks.
I'm so sick of the potted plants in the Democratic Party. I actually wonder if it wouldn't be better for all of us to jump ship to another party.

10. There is no other party...
...except for the pukes.

That's reality. Unless you want to lose, and help the pukes of course.

2. I think you need an "other" option
If you keep up with Kos and mydd, there is definately a struggle for power within the party. If we manage to streamline it, the party will be much stronger. But, I hesitate to say the Democrats have done nothing since the election, because there are definately power plays going on within the party right now.

3. I voted on how I think Democrats are perceived by most Americans
Thanks to the rw media, I don't think most Americans think the Democrats are doing anything, and think they can't do anything. The only time the media portrays liberals in a positive light is when Bushco wants someone to blame for some policy failure. (ie, those troops would have had body armor if Kerry had voted for the 87 millions)

4. America views Democrats as a bunch of flip-flopping wienies
And the people most responsible for that are the Democrats. We can change that perception by standing for something and not waffling. The message is good, the delivery is not.

6. When We Stand Up For Anything We Get Reamed Too
It doesn't actually matter what the Democrats do anymore.

The Rethugs own the news, they own the voting machinez. As long as that is
the case, everything the Democrats do will be "wrong".

5. The party is going for an anti-choice, pro-defense contractor Chair
Roemer also wants to privatize Social Security. If they don't stand up on Thursday, it's all over for the DP.

8. Here in NC the Progressives are Pushing for change. There's resistence.
So actually though I voted for worse...I was looking at this poll the way I think the "Average American" sees the Democratic Party and you didn't have a category for those of us who worked with the party from within...and are "mad as hell and aren't going to take it anymore!"

I think the key is that without change we are going to lose members and small donations.

Doesn't matter though. Our small donations just pay the postage. It's the Lobbyists and Corporations who run it. We are working to change that...but it's going to take a long time.

We need ELECTION REFORM NOW! Or, it won't matter what the hell we Progressives or the DLC do...we won't have voters. I myself probably won't vote if this mess isn't cleaned up.
