Houston Chronicle Editorial has the balls to condemn DeLay tactics
I saw this editorial in today's Houston Chronicle and thought I would let DU'ers know that not all Texans sign on to Bush Politics...

1. oh great, a truly balanced news source is fixing to get boycoted by
the neocons. I used to live in texas, for most of my life in fact, and you cant say things like this if you want to stay in business. It’s sad but true.

2. I guess the Chronicle feels they have to
ride the fence most of the time to prevent a RW newspaper from cropping up in Houston. I can't help but wonder if they'd be more critical of Rethugs in general if they weren't nervous about losing their print monopoly.

5. oh that Ronnie Earle's 'mission statement' were true...
Travis County District Attorney mission statement:

http://www.co.travis.tx.us/district_attorney/default.asp

note: "A state-funded division of the office investigates and prosecutes crimes related to the operation of state government..."

Hmmm.... Me thinks any independent investigation of DeLay won't get off the ground here as it is state-funded. Back to square one. People like Chris Bell are drummed out, and DeLay is cloaked and protected by others like him.

7. The Chronicle actually endorsed Delay's opponent last year
This is not a big surprise, considering that they endorsed a guy who had no chance over the sitting House majority Leader.
