These Dem Senators are more prepared than we thought they were....
It looks to me like they are prepared to make standardized, transparent voting an issue.

From the debate so far, it seems like they were more coordinated than they let on. Kerry's trip to Baghdad is certainly timed for the Senators to step forward representing the American people and their vote as a priority ABOVE his election.

I am a proud Democrat, today. They INTEND to fix the voting system. Democracy can be saved.

2. installing Kerry as rightful president is impossible
but electoral reform is possible. That's what they are trying to do.

5. I agree
President Kerry is impossible.

Even if they were able to throw Ohio's votes to Kerry, the Dems fight is futile.

Bush is currently the president, which means he is Commander-in-Chief. While we know there are virtually no National Guard soldiers left in this country, we still do have the service academies.

Is it too wild to think that he would call the Midshipmen and Cadets from the Naval Academy and West Point? Anyone who would got to a military academy is probably dying to kill somebody.

I wouldn't put it past Rove to think up that plot. Bring in the B-team -- surround the Capitol and impose martial law.

Bush's wet dream: two wars -- one in Iraq and one at home. Perfect.

4. You're right...the issue is about future elections..this is the beginning
of the war to ensure fair elections to come. The election of Bush is not a viable issue to overturn.

8. Thankfully, Kerry saw the best path to take to make voting integrity the
issue. If this was just about him, today would not have been possible, and fair voting would be just another Limbaugh laugh line.

7. Bottom Line
My other post in this thread is probably not realistic, I know.

What will be accomplished by this gambit is we have made the point that democracy is the first priority. While we couldn't prevent the theft of this election, at least the whole world -- and history -- will know that it occured.

November 2, 2004 ... a date which will live in infamy.

"...for the Senators to step forward representing the American people and their vote as a priority ABOVE his election."

Gee, that's not what he said in his email letter yesterday!

He said yesterday that (and I paraphrase here), since there was no chance for him to WIN, he would not be part of the process calling for an examination of electoral procedures. The actual letter is floating around here in a few different spots.

Put yer fingers in yer ears and go LA-LA-LA-LA-LA if you wish, and twist things up to suit you. Reality is starker.

That aside, it would be great if there was an honest look at the election process. The voting population has been steadily losing faith in that process for a decade, surveys have shown. It is not a new issue, and it is not a minor one, either.

Now...it remains to be seen IF there will be an honest look at it. Both parties have stakes in avoiding that honest look.

Film at 11...

13. You have no clue how Kerry works. Put up YOUR record.
You sit in judgement of the man who investigated and exposed more government corruption than any other lawmaker in modern history. He didn't make those IranContra and BCCI investigations a priority by being stupid. He forced them through even while the entire DC powerstructure and their media minions lined up to stop him.

If you are incapable of dealing with THAT stark reality, then save some bandwidth for those who can.

14. Exactly. Dems need to deal with GOPcontrol of media and voting machines.
Their platform is already in tune with most of the American people, but, the media and voting machines seem to favor the GOP....go figure.
