Did you see Emanuel digging his hole deeper and deeper on Russert?
Edited on Sun Jan-16-05 10:51 AM by KoKo01
He couldn't shovel fast enough to explain away Iraq...never once holding the Chimp accountable. When asked about Social Security...he said he'd work with the Chimp if he wants "Reform." He never once defended that Clinton FIXED SS...all he did was babble when Russert kept trying to say that Clinton thought SS was in Crisis. Russert kept feeding him lines to get him to say there IS a difference between Republicans and Democrats...he asked him what the Democratic Plan for SS is...and Ron just kept shoveling in that hole digging himself deeper and deeper.

I haven't watched Russert in months...but throught I'd try this morning given that the Chimp has admitted NO WMD and SS is being exposed as nothing but another hysteria campaign by the Repuglicans. BUT NO...
Rahm Emanuel is the Head of the Democratic Congressional Committee FGS!...and once again our DNC/DLC FAILS TO STAND UP IN DEFIANCE....

They haven't changed their ways....after three failed and stolen elections the DNC/DLC chooses a stammering, stuttering representative to go on the airwaves with Russert and embarrass us once again..

DEAN! I'm convinced that we have to have Dean. He's the only one who doesn't get Tongue Tied when having to talk about what Democrats stand for.

This was disgusting...I shouldn't have turned it on...it's ruined my
day. I thought they would have learned by now.. :grr:

1. Dean or Green
No more wimpy political parties for me.

If the Dems won't fight back, I'll find one that will.

on things hasn't been entirely reliable.

Sounds like another kneejerk reaction from those who like to bash Democrats unless its Dean.

8. Sounds LIke You Didn't Watch...I Did...It Was Awful....
My letter to Rahm...

Your performance on Meet the Press this morning was an embarrassment. You danced and equivocated, failing to give a straight answer to any question, but most especially on whether Social Security was in "crisis."

Social Security is not in crisis and the President lied repeated during the last week, saying it would go bankrupt in 2040. This is a preposterous lie as even the very conservative estimates of the Trustees say that in 2042 Social Security payments will be HIGHER in real dollars than what retirees receive today. To call that "bankrupt" or "flat broke" as President Bush has is dishonest. Yet you failed to be honest in saying that.

Democrats cannot win by being mealy-mouthed equivocators as you were on Meet The Press. You seemed to be ashamed to be a democrat and it was telling.

Be proud you are a democrat and don't be afraid to call the President on his dishonest propaganda campaign to destroy Social Security. I believe this is the road back to Congressional power.

Get a backbone.

6. He made me sick
I turned it off after 2 minutes. Emanuelle and the other talking heads we see representing our us are the jugheads who have our party in this mess.

We need to start a letter campaign geared toward these ineffectively neutered nitwits!

9. Russert was pretty good last night
I caught the end of panel discussion with a couple of journalists who were direct and uncompromising in their statements. Emanuel is babbling, slow and ducking and Russert is demanding clarity.

Why should the Democrats be coddled if they can't take a clear stand? C'mon!

11. You're right- That was appalling
No message, no "take-away" for the people who watched it. These guys have no "fire in the belly". If they don't act mad at what Bush is doing, how are viewers supposed to catch on that what Bush is doing is horrible??? He was like a little polite gnat, circling around buzzing but not inflicting any damage!

12. It is Pitiful How The Dems Seem Unable to Understand The GOP Plan
Edited on Sun Jan-16-05 11:24 AM by Vinnie From Indy
The GOP has been running the same playbook for over four years. They are all given daily talking points and they are disciplined in delivering the message. Democrats, on the other hand, are showing up on these shows perpetually unprepared and they spend most of their time fending off blows from the wing nut guests and their media bitches. When are the Dems. going to start sending out daily talking points and insisting on discipline in their delivery? Our spokespeople look like scared children that have lost their homework. I like Emmanual, but he should be embarrassed by his performance. He should have torn into not only BushCo when asked about the war, but he should have also prepared an assault on Russert for being a biased piece of dung.

13. It's Probably Curtains
I hate to say it ... because there is going to be a lot of pain for a lot of people because of this but ... it is probably curtains for the Democratic Party (in reality of not technically).

We've entered an era much like Rome during Julius Caesar or Germany in the 1920s where fear has turned a country into a mass of insanity. Humans just never seem to learn.

With no effective opposition, we are really under totalitarian rule already ... it's just that Rove is very sophisticated in imposing tyranny while allowing people to be propagandized that we still have freedom.

16. Did I watch the same interview as everyone else here at DU?????
He strongly criticized Bush's handling of Iraq.

He explicitly said that Bush's plan for Social Security was bogus.

??????????????????????????????????????????????

He strongly defended Clinton - and his three years of budget surpluses. He admitted that Clinton had been interested in some form of govt. sponsored retirement accts - but the problems Clinton had been interested in dealing with that related to SS had nothing to do with Bush's fake "crises".

What do you people want? You can't, as an elected representative, get up on national tv and start excoriating the other side WHEN THEY CONTROL ALL THREE BRANCHES OF GOVERNMENT! The only way the Democrats are going to stop this juggernaut is to build coalitions with moderates across the aisle. You don't build coalitions by spitting in people's faces! And without coalitions we lose every vote on a straight party line!

If anyone is digging a hole on social security it's the Republicans!

22. come up to speed
There are at least 5 other threads on Emanuel where I made my views known. I also replied to your post with enough information to get my point across.

I'd love nothing more than to play your game of tough talk but it's against the rules, you would be desperately out gunned and the mods don't need added bs to make there day harder.
