"Jerry Springer to Host Radio Talk Show"
Springer, 60, will host a politically oriented radio talk show in Cincinnati - where he once served as mayor - and he promises to challenge the Bush administration on issues ranging from Iraq to Social Security.

<snip>

Clear Channel, which owns WSAI-AM in Cincinnati, is scrapping the station's oldies format and changing to an all-talk format with a schedule of liberal commentators. The call letters will change to WCKY-AM on Monday.

Springer's show will be three hours in the morning, five days a week.

1. Good news.
I hope he is successful and reaches syndication. He was one of the few Dems making the talk circuit before the Iraq War who understood the problems. He gave some of the most accurate analysis. Miles ahead of many "official" Party spokespersons. Honesty and intellect are always a plus.

2. He's been trying to get on Air America for a long time - but snarky
Liz Winstead deemed him too unpalatable. Man is funny and knows his stuff.

8. you're joking, right?
Springer is a fucking dirtbag of the highest order. I don't care if that jackass says he's a liberal or not, he is pure sleaze.

It matters how someone makes a living, and this guy does it by exploiting the poorest, least educated in our society. He is dirt.

15. Ummm...A little perspective would be helpful
Springer -- allows willing participants to make fools of themselves on syndicated TV show.

Bush -- forces unwilling participants to die in Iraq.

12. My God! Her voice drives me up a wall...
I listen everyday though. I prefer the days when Chuckie D is there. It takes some of the edge off of her voice. She goes up to high C and stays there....yeoooowwww...like fingernails on a chalkboard.....

6. He ran studies to test the waters and backed out.
I thought it was for the Senate. Maybe he needs to warm the waters there.

7. Perhaps that is the plan? He'll have a real chance to do that
with this radio station.

How far can AM broadcasts travel?

9. Very if it is a powerful enough station
In northern Ohio I was able to get stations from as far as Montreal, Boston, New York, Detroit, and Chicago. A powerful Cincinnati station should be able to reach at least half the state.

14. 50,000 watts clear channel
I gets around at least the entire southern half of the state. Somebody posted a map with WCKY's coverage area. It's pretty impressive. And I understand that a Detroit station also picked him up.

13. Jerry, Jerry, Jerry!
Whether you are a fan of his TV show or not, the guy is one smart cookie. I like him! Unfortunately, our local Cox Cable no longer gives us the option to watch Jerry Springer. If by some chance the radio show becomes available to us in Florida, I will listen. I don't see him rolling over on the issues.
