Geez--does anybody recall this hot a campaign for DNC chair?
I mean, most of the time in the past the chairs were selected without much notice from anyone in the party, much less the country as a whole. You know--Terry Who?

Now with Dean v. the world, the whole business seems to be generating some excitement.

On a related note, I also don't recall this much grassroots Dem activity after an election. Both the Eau Claire & Chippewa County (WI) Dems have acquired permanent office space are keeping the offices open on a daily basis, staffed with volunteers. And there were more people out at our January county party meeting than I've seen in a long time.

Something's happening.

1. People were fired up for the election, and have refused to go home.
Bush will be lucky to finish his second term. Too many people are too fed up...eventually the system will have to sacrifice him or try to withstand some major upheaval.

2. The Dem establishment made a BIG mistake...
Edited on Tue Jan-18-05 01:35 PM by Al-CIAda
Immediately after the election, they began to parrot the rights' critique of the 'party'. They bashed Moore. They bashed the 'left'. They talked of ceding the right to choose issue.

In short, they declared war with the activists.
Reap the wind...and the wind is DEAN.

3. No, but nor does anyone recall such a string of bad campaigns
One begets the other.

4. I don't and was asking this same question a few days ago.
I don't even remember when Terry Who got in. Lost elections and a shaky platform have been great for regenerating active participation in politics at a grassroots level.
