What I think about Feingold.
I think Feingold is a Senator.

I do not understand why everyone here either loves or hates individual Senators because of their behavior on one issue.

Feingold voted against certain Bush proposals, so people make him a Saint and want him to run for President, totally ignoring the fact that hes not a hardcore liberal (which seems to be the litmus test for acceptability on this forum)

Similarly, Feinstein and Biden support Condi Rice on the grounds of executive appointment. You know, Feingold also supported Ashcroft? Why? Executive privledge in appointing a cabinet.

Listen people - John Kerry was about as liberal as a Senator can get and come CLOSE to winning. He's a taller Dukakis, and like Dukakis he lost to a Bush.

Hillary Clinton, similarly, is a LIBERAL. She not a "democrat in name only", nor is she DLC nor is she corrupt. Shes a politician.

What is the job of the politician? To represent people.

Feingold represents people that like guns.
Clinton represents people that like Israel.

Stop making the Democratic party seem to be weaker and unprincipled than it is. The party is a political party, meaning politics are involved. We fail, and have failed, not because of corruption of the candidates or organization. We failed because the media refuses to listen to party that cannot stand united.

"Anyone but Bush" is not unity. Support the PRINCIPLES of the democratic party.

Stop this ONLY Kucinich bullshit. Cause then you'll never be happy.

Use REASON. Dont only listen to facts that agree with your presupposed notions of candidate holiness and reject anything that opposes that.

Kerry was our candidate, and there should have been nothing onerous about supporting him. God knows I woulda voted for Dean with no less enthusiasm, or god forbid, Kucinich. I would be out every day campaigning for the DEMOCRATS, plain and simple goddamnit.

You will get flamed.

I for one agree with you, but I'll be ducking out of this thread early.

3. Wow...
... the original poster decided to include so many hot-button topics and phrases in that post that:

1) I don't know what he/she stands for;
2) There are no flames yet because the people who want to flame him/her are probably torn about what to attack first;
3) It is ineffective as a trolling post. If you want to incite a big flame war, limit yourself to just one or two bogeymen. Don't use them all at once.

2. His vote for Ashcroft really pissed me off.
But Feingold is still one of the good ones.

5. Yeah, the Ashcroft vote was horrible
but still more good than harm, overall.

6. Support the principles of the party, but
stop insisting that our elected officials should.
