Dean fans, are you Dean or Green?
Edited on Wed Jan-21-04 01:03 AM by freetempe
I talked to my neighbor today. Four years ago his lawn was covered with Nader signs. This year, its covered with Dean signs. He was disappointed with Dean's showing in Iowa and upset with the constant negative attacks against Dean. He said if Dean doesn't get the nomination, he will vote Green again.

This isn't the first I've heard of Deaniacs threatening to either not vote in the General Election, vote Green or write in Dean's name come Novemeber. There are a lot of hurt Deaniacs out there, attacked by people in their own party, who will bolt. I wouldn't blame them if they did. I'd like to hear from Dean fans as to what they will do if Dean doesn't get the nomination.

Speaking for myself, and as someone who will vote for Dean in the Arizona primary. I would definately be enthusiastic about a Dean or Clark candidacy. If its Kerry, Edwards or Lieberman I may hold my nose and vote but I will do nothing to contribute to any of those campaigns. I'd even consider voting Green.

What do other Dean fans think???

Title edited!!

2. Old Memes Never Die; They Just Get Recycled
Back to this, I see. Talk to me when you have some real numbers and not anecdotal evidence.

7. Its a vaild question
And I happen to know several Dean supporters who say their vote is non-transferable. Sure its anecdotal, but I am not a polling outfit so I'm sorry that I can't support my arguement with "numbers".

DLCer's and Washington insiders need to beware of spurning the millions of Dean supporters. They may just be dooming their own campaigns. That's all I'm trying to say.

3. Well I got involved in the political process because of Dean
Edited on Wed Jan-21-04 12:51 AM by ProudToBeLiberal
He was what made politics interesting in our political system. I don't know what I would do if he doesn't get the nominayion. I'll probabaly go back to the world of political apathy. Most likely I'll support the dem nominee

10. I'm one of those ever elusive and highly coveted Swing Voters
Registered Independent and I never vote according to party. I vote for candidates I like, regardless of what party they belong to. In Vermont elections I always voted for Dean (Democrat),Leahy (Democrat), Sanders (Socialist) and Jeffords (Republican until recently changing to Independent).

For the presidential election, I am currently NBD. As it stands right now, if Dean is not the nominee I'll either write him in or stay home. In Vermont it doesn't much matter which party is in control in the state because they're all a good group of folks for the most part. In most cases, both parties are on the same side of the important issues.

11. I don't understand the phenomenon.
If you look at the Green platform and then at Dean's platform, they are not even close on many issues. Many important issues.

I understand the whole campaign buzz thing, but Dean is about right of center on policies. Except for a few social things like civil unions.

I never understood this one...

13. My heart is green, but I'd never go Dean.
However, I think many people who went green in 2000 didn't really have green in their heart. they had anti-establishmentarianism in their heart.

14. I am Green and Dean!
It is possible to be both! Even if Dean does not get the nomination, I will be inclined to support the Democratic nominee as I really consider it unwise that the Green Party should front a presidential candidate this time around. There is way too much at stake here!

16. I'm currently a Dem for Dean...
If he's not in I'll be a Green for Dean.

I think the Dem party sucks the big time...just a bunch of prissy wimps and I'm looking for a fighter.

Well the Dem party wants to use its liliputian forces to bring down my fighter so I'm just going to have to say adios.

17. Hell No!!
I am an AVID Dean supporter, but if it comes right down to it, I'd hold my nose and vote for LIEBERMAN over Bush!!

I am solidly ABB!!

The Kucinich supporters, on the other hand...they worry me about possibly going Green on our ass!

How about asking Kucinich supporters if they are ABB? I, as an AVID Dean suppoerter, am fully ABB.

I detest and despise Kerry, for his refusal to even consider a transgender-inclusive ENDA. But I'd even hold my nose and vote for Kerry over Bush.

I started out an Edwards supporter, but Dean energized me with his righteous anger. and I still like it.

Because I am one pissed off liberal!

18. I am of your same mind
I have worked for Dean, writing letters and talking him up, and have sent money and will send more but I will only cast a vote for someone else, particularly Kerry or Edwards, who are just run-of-the-mill politicians under whom not much will change. Or maybe I will conveniently be out of the country and can leave the sheeple to their own fate (for Dean I would vote absentee--for anybody else I don't think I'd bother).
