I just heard Kevin Phillips say it on Bernie Ward's show...
...that it would be good for the candidate selection process to go on for as long as possible to avoid the opposition being able to focus the attacks on just one person.
(BTW, there's been another cluster of small earth quakes in the Bay Area centered in the Livermore area.)

1. I was just starting to think that tonight.
The second we ID ABB, they send in the brownshirts.
Now they have to divide the brownshirts between a few
candidates. Such a hardship for them!

I respect Kevin Phillips a lot.
Granted he's a Republican, but a good ol' fashioned one.
Not a neo-con.
He doesn't consider the current regime to be Republicans.

3. I disagree. The sooner we pick a candidate, the sooner we can explain
I disagree. The sooner we pick a candidate, the sooner we can explain to people why he's better than Bush.

Most people aren't as interested in politics as the people at DU.

If the Democrat isn't chosen until the convention, most people in November will feel like they barely know who he is.

4. Look at it this way:
Even in the conservative skewed media, one still has to give some coverage time to each viable candidate, therefore there are more out there hammering away at Junior, discovering and testing more weak spots and just showing the faces of coherent opposition. We thus see that many disagree with this man and his policies, and they have faces and voices.

Until there's a nominee-apparent, the monarchists can't focus and destroy, and they're liable to make missteps along the way.

Winnowing down the field also allows the wisdom of the collective voters to tell us who the most will go for, and it's the test of fire that's needed.

Not having an early coronation will make many in the later primaries more involved and enthused, and they won't be turned off by feeling that a nominee was rammed down their throats.

Think about it: it's great. We don't want to stampede into this.

Kevin Phillips is a truly decent and smart guy; he wants this mob out of power in the worst way.

10. Kevin Phillips came to his senses during the '80s...
...when he observed all the changes to the tax code under Reagan. The 'trickle down' boon doggle.

5. Well, "a long process" doesn't mean till June. It means mid March
By April at the latest. That's still plenty of time for the Republicans to attack and for us to counterattack. But with things scheduled as they are, the difference between a short and long process is no more than six weeks' difference. Even if we rassle it out in the convention, that gives us plenty of time to do our stuff in the fall. Remember that Clinton was way down in the polls in '92 until early October or so. Gore was behind in the polls right up to Halloween. Timing is less important than finding the right guy.

6. Am listening to KGO now...heard Phillips
I read an interview with him by Buzzflash.com Very interesting but not new (to me anyway). Good stuff for those who were unaware of the Bush 'Dy nasty'.

I've also been hearing of the quakes in the no.bay region...I wonder whats up? I better keep my slippers near my bed tonight eh?

9. A buncha little ones is better than one big one...
...takes the pressure off the plates.
They say the quakes have been felt in Walnut Creek and Hayward, so I guess it's the Hayward Fault. I grew up down there, though I'm in Portland now. I can get KGO broadcast some nights. Tonight I have it on the 'net. I enjoy Bernie's show...
Keep the slippers handy...

7. My thoughts exactly.
As I've posted here several times.

And until June would be fine with me too. Throw KKKarl off his feed.

8. Take it to the convention
I agree with Kevin Phillips on this. If we can get to the convention with two candidates all the better. It will bring attention to the campaign and keep the people listening.

13. I agree. THe longer this goes on, the more Bush comes off as a puppet
As the contest goes on, and the public is more exposed to the Dem candidates during more debates and interviews, it should become obvious to even the sheeple that Bush cannot handle interviews or extemporaneous speaking like the dem candidates. Did you see the Walters interview a couple of weeks ago? What a disaster compared to the dem candidates!

14. There's an Added Bonus And It Rhymes with Honey
The longer the BFEE goes without knowing who the nominee is, the more time and cash they'll spend trying to get a message tailored.

How much did (Hair) Club for Growth spend on those anti-Dean ads? If the front-runner keeps switching, it starts looking like 3 Card Monte and guess who the sucker is?
