Poll question: Waste of Oxygen: Which GOP Senator is the Worst?
Edited on Fri Jan-28-05 06:59 PM by Old Crusoe
This poll asks your opinion on the most egregious case of a waste of oxygen among current-term GOP U.S. Senators.

Only room for 10 slots on the poll, so No. 10 is marked 'Other' for the SEVERAL other deserving nominees. Please -- no Lieberman votes, tempting though it be.

Have at it, people.

The modern-day GOP is such a pack of venal little monsters. A very high yuck factor.

And THE CAT BUTCHER is as deserving as anyone for "most egregious waste of oxygen."

83. He's a fucking idiot -- doesn't know the meaning of "classical liberalism"
I saw him on Hardball, rejoicing about the "death of classical liberalism," not knowing that "classical liberalism," is mostly known as the liberalism of the founders -- not the liberalism of the left.

So, in effect, he was denouncing everything on which this country was founded. Which, for a GOP mouthpiece, would be the only true thing that ever escapes his lips.

My friend said she saw frist on stephanopoulos the other Sunday and he was talking about how the Americans just have to sacrifice(so the top 1% won't have to pay their fair share of taxes) as far as Social Security is concerned. She said he was so cavalier about the whole thing that she was getting queasy!

She's the kind who wrote him a letter and told him what she thought!

He's more conservative than the man he replaced -- Lowell Weicker, and more conservative than our platform.

I really think Joe thought he would win the Iowa and New Hampshire primaries last year. But he was buried alive.

Bush may yet appoint him to some post or other, but essentially, Joe's time has come and gone. Gore put Joe in the spotlight for a brief moment, and now the light is off and Joe's just wailing in the dark.

Santorum is running away with this poll.

He is a much-feared, much-detested presence in the U.S. Senate.

I would LOVE to see him defeated at the polls in 2006. Friends of mine in Philadelphia believe that Robert Casey, Jr. will run against him, and despite his conservative stand on abortion, they believe most Democrats will rally behind Casey to defeat Santorum.

If Santorum loses, I don't think many people on DU will miss him.

71. Must be their lovechild
I remember Orrin on my TV during the "long dong silver" supreme court hearings of the early 90's. I think Orrin was jealous!

Frist reminds me of the coked-up freak on Sharkys Machine circa 1981

Whatever made him think he could make a viable run for president?

93. Hi, Wabbajack.
Can i ask a question?

Do you know if Langevin is going to challenge Lincoln Chaffee in 2006?

There's talk of it on other blogs, and the early polls suggest that Langevin could unseat him.

I was wondering if you had any updates on this.

If it were left to me, I'd trade Chaffee to Connecticut to replace Lieberman, and elect Langevin in RI.

As for Lieberman -- I think he should be the new Orick vacuum cleaner guy.

97. I don't
have any special information but I heard Langevin is considering it.

I'm disappointed he's anti-choice like Weygland was. I'm thinking that's part of why Chaff won so easily in 2000.

That man gives new meaning to the term "sentimental bullshit." I've never seen anything as disgusting as his thinly veiled bigotry masquerading as sentimentality, "ooohhhhh my goddddd if butttt sexxx iss leggggall whaaaat abbbouuut theee chiiiildren, whaaaat abouuuuut the fammmilies."

And then, of course, he's a dishonest liar.

He is numero uno most pathetic, hands down.

90. I didn't vote for the Repuke Senator
who I hated the most -- which is my Senator, Rick Santorum -- I voted for the waste of oxygen Senator, which to me means the one that just stands up there on the Senate Floor and blabs the Repuke talking points. The rubber-stampers that got in through cheating. I voted for John Cornyn. Norm Coleman is even more of a waste of good oxygen.

As of today, Saturday, January 29, 2005, my opinion is that ALL republicans are evil and want evil for the people of this country.

I am hopeful that in the midterm elections we will pick up a couple seats, maybe three.

There is even a chance of unseating Rick Santorum, although it won't be easy.

104. Hi, JNelson. I'm picking up some VERY strong -
- anti-Coleman sentiment on DU.

I hope it translates to his being turned out by Minnesota voters next time.

I'm no fan of Norm myself, and as I posted above, I'm sick of seeing his usurping puss in Paul Wellstone's rightful Senate seat.
