US govt. supplied Afghanistan with Militant Islamic Textbooks for schools
1984-1994: U.S. govt supplied Afghanistan with militant Islamic textbooks for schools

As highlighted by emperors-clothes.com, according to a front page Mar. 23, 2002 Washington Post article, but not reported much elsewhere according to emperors-clothes.com (emphasis added): In the twilight of the Cold War, the United States spent millions of dollars to supply Afghan schoolchildren with textbooks filled with violent images and militant Islamic teachings, part of covert attempts to spur resistance to the Soviet occupation.

The primers, which were filled with talk of jihad and featured drawings of guns, bullets, soldiers and mines, have served since then as the Afghan school system's core curriculum. Even the Taliban used the American-produced books, though the radical movement scratched out human faces in keeping with its strict fundamentalist code.

Some idiots are one-in-a-million special idiots. Blue ribbon dopes.
And they wind up in charge of our foreign policy.

2. Damn....................
who would have ever thought that they'd use these same books to fight against American Imperialism?
You reap what you sow, only problem is, it's the young people of our country that are reaping the consequences of what the Rumsfields and Cheneys sowed so many years ago.
Everyday I say I hate these bastards more than the day before. I don't know how that can be possible, but it is.

4. Not only that--the CIA actively supported the Taliban in the 1990s
because they saw them as the "most competent" of the many factions who fought for the country after the Soviets left.
