1. Considering the strict dress code this bunch maintains
I think we can safely assume that having Cheney dress for a day of duck hunting delivered the message the neocons wanted it to.

For anybody who mewls, "but it was cold,!" remind them it was cold on inauguration day, and he was appropriately dressed for that.

7. also, bring this up:
there were hundreds of people there in the cold. they weren't dressed like construction workers. His own WIFE was dressed appropriately. I assume they got ready together. I think he just didn't give a shit about the event, cold or not.

3. Gosh I hope not.
I wear that stuff on occasion.

On the other hand, I haven't visited very many concentration camps lately...

10. Where do you get that information?
"The ceremony at the Nazi death camp was outdoors,.."

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A43247-2005Jan27.html

"The ceremony at the Nazi death camp was outdoors, so those in attendance, such as French President Jacques Chirac and Russian President Vladimir Putin, were wearing dark, formal overcoats and dress shoes or boots."

13. I stand corrected.
When he was inside the buildings at Auschwitz, he had a coat and tie on. But the picture shown was taken at Auschwitz.

I appreciate you calling me on it. I deserved it.

6. This is a deliberate distraction. Cheney's energy documents
are before the judges right now who are deciding on whether they should be released. Halliburton is changing their Iran operations around.

Don't look at those issues,

just talk about Cheney's bad taste in clothes.

8. Why make a big deal of this??
I don't agree with anything that dick says or does, but
I would have dressed for comfort in the same circumstance.

If you want to rag on the asshole rag on him for something worthwhile.

12. But this is worthwile. When you're representing your country everything is
symbolic. And you just don't "dress for comfort" at an Auschwitz ceremony of all places. If you do, everybody else gets the message.

17. Okay, that is just damned disrespectful
Even being evil incarnate is no excuse for wearing such inappropriate clothing to a somber memorial. I am so ashamed of these iditos who are representing us to the world!!
