E-mail MSNBC re: Wes Clark lies & partisan crap (only takes 2 minutes!)
Edited on Tue Feb-01-05 11:24 AM by moggie12
I am re-posting this based on good feedback/suggestion from DUers who responded to my first post about Joe Scarborough's partisan attacks on Democrats (in Wesley Clark's case, based on outright lies and distortions of his position on the Iraq election).

Below are three e-mail messages you can cut-and-paste into MSNBC's e-mail link (letters@msnbc.com and cc: it to viewerservices@msnbc.com ). Pick one and make changes as you see fit -- or don't make any changes at all -- we're looking for sheer numbers of e-mails here, not Faulkner-esque prose. (When stations get 100 or more e-mails all on the same subject, they’re more likely to pay attention. Unlike FoxNews -- which thrives on insulting Democrats -- MSNBC/GE is more susceptible to pressure from angry Dems)

Here's three potential e-mails you can send:

"I strongly object to you highlighting Joe Scarborough's partisan political attacks against Democrats on the MSNBC home page. Why didn't you give equal time to Keith Olbermann -- he's the main reason I tune into MSNBC these days. You shouldn't print partisan garbage if you want people to watch MSNBC."

-OR-

"Joe Scarborough should apologize to Wesley Clark and other Democrats for what he wrote in his January 29th blog. It’s painfully obvious that Scarborough is making a partisan political attack. If you review the transcript of Wesley's Clark's January 24th appearance on Scarborough's show, you will see that General Clark repeatedly said he thought holding the elections in Iraq was a great thing and a positive step. MSNBC should be ashamed to print such outright lies and politically-motivated attacks. Joe Scarborough owes an apology to Wesley Clark. "

-OR-

"I believe an apology is in order from one of your most vacuous commentators -Joe Scarborough - in reference to his attack on Wesley Clark. Scarborough's venomous spin of late is disgraceful. I don't presume to understand how you can reconcile the actions taken by your commentators against true patriots of this country like Clark. These ploys only affirm the irrelevance of the 'media', and will no-doubt hasten the inevitable. The only reason I write is that someone has to. Signed, Turned off on MSNBC in Mass"

This is the link to MSNBC's home page where they highlight Scarborough's blog (giving it preference over Keith's great blog making fun of Dobson's SpongeBob insanity!!):

This is a link to a post by a DUer who caught Scar-butto red-handed in malicious lies about what Clark said: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.ph...

Thanks if you can do this……….please kick this post if you think this is worthwhile and let me you any comments/suggestions you have….

5. Gotcha -- DU is working at fighting media lies
It's one thing to complain, another to do something.

Will do.

6.  "DU is working at fighting media lies" is a great way to put it!!
I like that "it's one thing to complain, another to do something" line, too.

I'm going to put those phrases in there next time I do another "e-mail the media" post. Think how powerful DU would be if everyone sent one or two e-mails every day. I wonder how many people log-in to DU every day? I bet it's a 3-4,000 at least.

I think you are onto something, moggie 12. Glad to contribute phrases to such a good effort.

This is what matters.

7. This is worth doing because "if I do nothing.....well...I do nothing."
This is worth doing even if you are skeptical about the effect it will have. Scarborough may be beyond rational discussion as a paid political whore, but by contacting MSNBC we can make other people there realize that there is another segment of its viewers which is not blindly and unthinkingly right wing. Perhaps our messages will be dismissed out of hand, but perhaps, if we are willing to make the effort again and again, someone at MSNBC will someday decide to pay attention.

On a previous thread about this DUer stillcool47 expressed doubt about the effectiveness of contacting MSNBC but did so anyway because in stillcool47's powerful words "but if I do nothing.....well...I do nothing." Contacting MSNBC may not accomplish much if anything, but if we do nothing . . . well . . . we do nothing. That certainly won't accomplish anything.

9. you might be right --- the attack dogs are getting a head start
I hope you sent an e-mail -- it really only takes two minutes if you do a cut-and-paste. The more e-mails we send them, the better our chances of putting a muzzle on this piece of garbage.

10. well *that* was a fun note to write!
To MSNBC Letters
Re: "Congressman" Joe Scarbourough : UGH!

I am really, really getting tired of Holy Joe.
The man is blatantly slanted and so clearly in lockstep with Rove's Daily Message .
At the least, his yakking sounds no different than so many other Partyliners so what's the motivation for watching? At worst it is another Love Big Brother-ization of mainstream media.

MSNBC is, in my mind the best of the "Big 3" cable news organs but ,egad guys -please let us have some variety?
There are plenty of places to get the infotainment , loud swooshes, the OTT graphics.
There just ain't much of anywhere on TV to get actual news.

Dare to be different!

PS: At least you have Keith Olbermann
PPS: Congressman Joe sure is mighty sanctimonious for a guy who had a young employee die under mysterious circumstances in his office,

11. LOL -- You know, you're totally right about them
They'd make more money if they had more shows like Olbermann's for intelligent people to watch. But no, they do a cheap Fox knock-off like Scarborough's show - people who like that crap just go and watch the real thing on Fox.

P.S. Loved your two P.S.'s at the bottom

P.P.S Thanks for taking the time to write to them

13. Clark is appearing on Hardball tomorrow according to Tweety....
So we will have to see if Tweety is supposed to make up for Joe's behavior and allow the General to have his say....or if Tweety will just try to make Joe's original lies become truth.

Should be interesting.

Thank you Moggie12....cause I believe that your efforts may have led to a request from MSNBC for the General's appearance.

I'm in on the media letters. I will do my bid, cause if not me, than who?

14. No kidding????? Clark's going to be on with Tweety??
I bet Clark went berserk when he saw what Scarborough wrote. He probably demanded that MSNBC have him on again.

(I have this image in my mind of Clark on his way to do the Tweety segment, seeing Joe Scarborough in the hall, and doing some Army-style chop to his gut and dropping him to his knees. Hmmmm, enjoying this mental image.......)

Well, FC, you made my day!!! I'd like to think all the e-mails we sent had something to with this..... so I think that's what I'll decide to believe!!!

18. Joe is a freak. He sipped Kool-Aid ad nauseum just before the
Iraqi selection thing that had goin' on over there with the 57 percent turnout of the 30-some-odd percent who bothered to register.

God/Allah Bless 'Em, they got to vote, but it's yet to be seen if their vote counted.
