Who is better at lieing, Scotty or Ari?
Edited on Wed Feb-02-05 11:31 AM by EC
Q: Scott, is Tony Blair right when he says the U.S. has to get on board with the agenda of countries who see climate control as a major priority?

MR. McCLELLAN: Well, I’m not sure that that’s an accurate way to describe what he’s saying.

Let’s go to the transcript…

TONY BLAIR: If America wants the rest of the world to be part of the agenda it has set, it must be part of their agenda too… What would be the subject matter of a common agenda?… Fourth and fifth are the two issues we have set aside for our Presidency of the G8: climate change and Africa.(http://www.weforum.org/site/homepublic.nsf/Content/Special+Address+by+Tony+Blair,+Prime+Minister+of+the+United+Kingdom )

1. Ari, hands down.
No one is better at obfuscation, distraction, misleading, and attacking the messenger.

6. Damn straight. Anybody can tell a lie...
but it takes the boundless talents of a guy like Ari to make profoundly ridiculous statements and still maintain an aura of confident authority. Ari Fleicher is the Tiger Woods of mendacity. Ya almost gotta admire the guy for being so good at what he did, even if what he did was evil.

2. Ari was much better in my opinion. I hope I am right. I am beginning
to get hopeful for the first time in 4+ years that the ride is nearing in and for the GOP.

3. Scott can't hold a candle to Ari.
Edited on Wed Feb-02-05 11:41 AM by aden_nak
Ari was the Zen Master of talking for five minutes on one topic and not saying SHIT. Scott tends to get flustered easily, by stuff that Ari wouldn't even grace with a dismissive sneer. And if he gets a question he can't think of anything to say about, he often just ignores it outright, without even making up some non-answer first.

Reporters tend to have huge egos, and they don't care for that. Scott doesn't know how to manipulate the press like Ari did. Good for us, though. Heh.

7. Yep
That's the problem with the Bush adminsitration--they have made a fetish out of appearing invulnerable. Once the cracks start appearing, well, that's almost the end.

That was one of Clinton's strengths, in a way. We all knew he was imperfect, so when he had feet of clay it was bad, but not disasterous. Bush on the other hand, when the people get a good look at his feet, well, it's not going to be so good for him.
