When I listen to Senator Robert Byrd
I feel like I'm sitting in a university classroom, listening to the most knowledgeable historian of constitutional law. He moves me enotionally and intellectually. His speeches have anchored my political belief system over the past four years.

Thank you Senator Byrd.

10. Absolutely! You'd think this country could find a few dozen others
to join him in the Senate. Here's a link to a couple of his great speeches against the Iraq war - when he was just one of a handful of of Senators trying to stop the retarded cowboy from the worst mistake in American history.

If you haven't read them...enjoy. :)

3. Byrd is great
I think he tried to run for president in 1960. A true progressive and a true American patriot.

6. He's a purist
He doesn't sell out but always bases his decisions on constitutional law -- a rare breed these days.

7. I love Senator Byrd.
He is desperately trying to keep the Constitution from being destroyed.

I wish other Dems would follow his lead, the man has more wisdom than any other senator.

Too bad, rightly or wrongly, his former KKK ties have hurt him.

11. I guess its how one views it
To me, a man who is willing to re-draw his map of reality and correct a faulty belief system, against the immense pressure of his peers, (he could have gone the way of Strom). I ascribe a lot of value to that choice.

14. What a wonderful tribute....
I was thinking earlier that in addition to someone who cares about the constitution, Sen. Byrd gives me that warm, cozy feeling of being safe.

You don't see his type anymore. I know that he has done a lot of good for the people of West Virgina and the people of W.Va. love him.
