What happened with Chertoff today
I never heard. Any debate? Any sign of a vote?

1. I did a search on this subject
one post from one person watching CSPAN, quoting Joementum saying that Chertoff was just what the country needed. No replies.

How about if I said he was gay and had been seen with McClellan. Then would people be paying attention to the debate?

3. As far as I know, only one Republican
stood up to speak for Chertoff, and that was the Chairman of the Homeland Security Committee, Susan Collins. I was waiting for Carl Levin's remarks. He started out saying that he was going to vote for him, so I immediately fell asleep.

Apparently Sen. Levin had some problems with him about the torture, because I heard Lieberman talking about it. Then Leiberman said that Chertoff said under oath that he was against torture, and that he believed him. So there. Why in the heck to Dems believe what Republicans say, under oath or not makes no difference to them.

The actual vote will be today, Tuesday, at 4:00 p.m. He will get confirmed easily. Both New Jersey Senators are for him.
