The Shiites' victory in Iraq plays into Bush's hand.
Think about it. The Shiites have ties with the Iranian extremists. Bush will use this as a lever to bomb Iran because, he'll say, that we cannot afford to allow Iran to spread its terrorism into a new fledgling country that we worked hard to liberate and form.

Look for more saber-rattling from the White House real soon on this train of thought.

1. I don't think so
The two main positions the UIA ran on were setting a deadline for US withdrawal, and rolling back Bremer's thieving economic laws.

It's that second point, rolling back the piratization of Iraq, that's really going to hurt Bush and his friends. I doubt an invasion of Iran would make up for that.

But I think that Bush will start with Iraq first...

US fights back against 'rule by clerics'

This story is unconfirmed, but it may hold the answers for our future.
