4. sure, the same ones who have been.
but will it matter? the repubs most likely have the gusto to push chertoff through. unless they have some major league dissenssion in their ranks.

5. There are enough Democrats in the Senate to filibuster
It only take 41 votes to do so, and there are 44 Democrats and one independent who usually votes with the Democrats.

12. I seriously doubt that any Republican Senator will oppose this
Not one of them opposed Gonzales and Rice. This one seems to be a lot less controversial.

10. I'm sure he'll be OK'd. I don't know why anyone would want this job
anyway! I also don't think this is a nomination we should fight. Better to fight the stupid budget, and SS reform. We'd have some Pub allies on those 2 issues!!!

It's stupid to try to fight EVERYTHING. Pick your battles.

13. seeing as torture boy and condiliar were confirmed
I really can't see any fillibuster over Chertoff coming up. Anyway, I haven't really been following this, how is he worse than anyone else * might put up?

I mean, I know he supports *'s policies, that goes without saying, but has he done the equivalent of lying us into a war or advising the use of torture?

19. how do you separate the turds from the whey
well, all these guys are about the
same caliber...they come with a record
of lying, covering up and breaking
laws. Chertoff was just another,
and all Dems should still not vote for
this behavior and the behavioree
for the highly important positions
they are nominated for.

Condi: maybe. Alberto: hell yeah. But c'mon people, you gotta pick your battles. Even Boxer, Kennedy and Feingold voted 'aye.'

21. Did they get the memo Levins was demanding
I hope so. Levins was making the point that they need to be given the info to do their jobs.

And I agree. We need to pick our battles. That may be why everyone wasn't going nuts over this. Not much uproar really. Almost no attention here yesterday.

22. I think this was smart
I don't know of anything especially odious about Chertoff, and this take a little wind out of their constant cries that we're 'obstructionists'.

24. Opposition means more than just saying 'no' to everything
It is necessary to provide alternatives and to pick our battles.

25. 98-0 Did Hillary vote?
I remember she was one of the few, if only, to vote against Chertoff as judge -- and that was personal :-)

Not that I don't think that was a good thing
