The WH and the Media are going nuts about Syria today -- maybe this is why
JERUSALEM -- Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon said Tuesday he has been informed by President Vladimir Putin that Russia will go ahead with the sale of anti-aircraft missiles to Syria, despite Israel's misgivings.

Sharon said he was unhappy about Russia's decision. Israel fears that the missiles will reach militant groups in Lebanon.

"We are not pleased with the sales of weapons to Syria," Sharon told a news conference.

Sharon said Putin had promised him in a meeting more than two years ago that the missiles would not be sold to Syria. Sharon said he has not yet seen Putin's letter, received Tuesday, but said he understood that "they are going to sell that kind of weapon to the Syrians."

1. Could be part of it. I wouldn't be surprised if our government had
more than a little to do with the assasination. But hey, that's what I've come to expect from these guys.

6. Israel is an ally
and Syria is actually a country that has supported terror groups, unlike Iraq.

I wouldn't support any military action against Syria, but Israel is not at fault here one bit.

11. Why should..
... Isreal have any say over the acquisition of DEFENSIVE weapons?

It's Israel's fault because they are now, and have been for some time, as loathesome in their actions as the Palestinians.

12. I'm not going to get in this argument
because the passions run too high on both sides. I was just asking why Israel gets blamed for US actions towards Syria in regards to Lebanon.

5. Prime Minister Sharon...
This is the ruler of Israel, "indirectly but personally responsible" for the 1982 massacre of 800-2000 Palestinian refugees in Lebanon...as found by an Israeli tribunal. What a shock that the Israeli's would elect such a man Prime Minister and keep him in that position for years.

Enough already! I fully support Israel as a nation-state and believe that the nation should not have to endure the insanity of terrorism. However, electing someone that was associated with this atrocity by his own government is over the line.

Time to stop subsidizing Israel and its offensive choice for PM.

From Fairfax Digital:

http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2003/02/13/1044927740942.html

"Twenty-three Palestinian survivors of a refugee camp massacre in Lebanon in 1982 are trying to sue Mr Sharon for war crimes under the law, which allows for such prosecutions where the alleged offense took place.

The massacre, during which between 800 and 2000 Palestinian refugees were slaughtered, was carried out by an Israeli-allied Christian militia during Israel's war against Lebanon.

An Israeli tribunal in 1983 found Mr Sharon, then defense minister, to be indirectly but personally responsible. Mr Sharon was forced to resign but was not prosecuted."

9. And to distract from the Shiite government being formed in Iraq.
Maybe the future alliance between Iraq and Iran is making them go out of PNAC order and invade Syria first. Plus, they may have to make that side trip into Venezuela.

Our government is so backwards and pathetic!

13. Anyone have the link to Russia selling anti-tank missiles to Iran?
Putin just may be saving lives--sine chimp the coward will not go into either syria or iran if significant casualties are in store.

14. Sharon is nothing but a war criminal and should be behind bars.
Simply put. That is what we think.

Good for Russia and for Syria! The US is no longer the world's "super power". The world knows it, just the poor "citizens" of the US don't.

16. Pres. Bush promised early in his first term that he had...
..."looked deep in to Putins' eyes" and found a man he could trust and work with.

If Putin turns out to be a dangerous character I may be forced to re-think my support for Bush's statements such as "Mission Accomplished", "Weapons of Mass Destruction" and "Iraq's links to 9/11"!!!! Say it aint so.

Oh Yeah. I guess "No Draft" is out the window too.
