The CBS Three Won’t Slink Off; Hiring Lawyers
http://newyorkobserver.com/pages/frontpage1.asp

I like where this may go in light of other events.;)

Mr. Howard and two other ousted CBS staffers—his top deputy, Mary Murphy, and CBS News senior vice president Betsy West—haven’t resigned. And sources close to Mr. Howard said that before any resignation comes, the 23-year CBS News veteran is demanding that the network retract Mr. Moonves’ remarks, correct its official story line and ultimately clear his name.

2. And they shouldn't have to resign.
The thing is, the underlying story was correct. It was only the document that was forged, and, in all likelihood, The Republicans did the forgery in the name of punking CBS.

3. I'm intrigued by the possibility of this being a way to pry
deeper into how Guckert had a role in the set-up.

4. Wasn't Gannon/Guckert
on FR at the time? Remember they were given credit for recognizing the documents as forged before Rather was even off the air. Was Gannon the plant for Rove that did this?

5. I'm convinced that is the most likely scenario

6. Those documents may very well be authentic
Brush away all the ballyhoo, and CBS was ethical about this; its opponents have been ham-handed lying thugs. There is no proof that these Killian documents weren't copies of real ones. In fact, his secretary states that there were similar OFFICIAL ones that she personally typed that have since "disappeared". It's very plausible that Killian typed (bad typist that he was) these for personal CYA memo files. It's quite confirmed that he was disgusted with Ninny-boy.

The big story here is how KNOWN documents were purged by the authority of the Governor of Texas (that would be Junior). He went out of his way to have his driver's license number changed to cover his tracks, and he used his pull to destroy files that would incriminate him. This is all VERY illegal.

There are ways to somewhat authenticate these Rather documents: although they're not originals, they were photocopied at some secure site, and by checking the paper, toner and age, it's very possible to tie them to sites where the originals would have been.

CBS, understanding that this isn't the Soviet Union and that the burden of proof is on the accuser, backed off its claim of authenticity of these documents. Since NO deriders have proven them to be fakes--in fact, the typeface is VERY consistent with typewriters on site at the time--anyone referring to them as "fakes" is a liar of the worst sort.

The mainstream media played along with this, and more than anything else, let this be equated as a dismissal of all the undeniable guilt of Junior's privilege in dodging Vietnam service. He used family ties --which he continually denied--to get a cushy billet in the TANG, at great expense to the taxpayers, and then fucked around, did drugs, pulled more strings to avoid even that service, and finally just skipped out on his obligation. He's a user of the worst sort, and widely available evidence confirms this, yet the media gave him a free pass while viciously attacking any deriders.

Sumner Redstone is a fool. He's so hungry to control the media that he'll suck these Nazis' dicks and doesn't even realize that he's already a marked man. They will let him suck up to them and play along until it's safe to destroy him.

The whole thing is a deplorable episode in the history of humankind. All I can say is that I hope these people fight with everything they've got.

7. According to an interview I heard
the staff at CBS are fully behind these three. They have a lot of contempt for the management at CBS' news division.
