What if the Gannon story is...
...a distraction?

Don't know what it could be a distraction from, but it's a possibility.

1. It's a good one if it is.
You're a daisy if you do.

Filed under:

Bomb experts are combing through a plane that just landed at Lindbergh Field, 10News reported.

A bomb threat was made saying that there was an explosive onboard an America West jet.

Flight 6264 was bound for San Diego from Phoenix when it landed safely at about 7:20 a.m. All 35 passengers on board were evacuated to the terminal.

3. It's a distraction, but it wasn't planned
They would have covered their asses better if this was Rove's plan. They would have used someone else instead of a gay call boy with no press credentials as their shill.

I honestly think Guckert is blackmailing BushCo. Something like, "Give me a cushy press corp job and I wont go public with my list of WH clients".

4. The Gannon story is a distraction from itself
See this thread.

My view is that the important part of the story is that the White House is using a plant to manage news coverage; this in addition to paying pundits to put out their message and hiring a PR firm to disseminate false news reports about Medicare that look like real news reports.

This undermines the principle of a free and independent press and its role in a democratic society.

The seedy homosexual prostitute angle is a red herring.

5. I believe so too
I don't think they were counting on people finding all this out. This was just a careless thing with them. Maybe they're losing hold on everything.

7. I don't think it's a distraction
I think the WH/SS/FBI/CIA/Press Sec. staff etc, just fucked up big time. Just like Pat B on Hardball tonight, the Repuks are trying to brush this off.

9. Why do people ask this?
No one in the Bush administration (as moronic as they are) planted the Gannon story as a diversion from anything. No one would want this to come out. The sexual details cover some potentially (and likely) CRIMINAL behavior on the part of senior White House officials, including Rove.

No one is using this as a distraction.

Please stop asking this stupid question!!!!!!!!!

10. Gannon story is a godsend
No one pays attention to budgets and detailed plans for America. They do pay attention to gay prostitues in the white hosue and and a fake media.

11. No distraction. They never expected a challenge to Gannon to be raised.
The reporting on Gannon did not come from the corporate media...you know, the ones who were sitting next to him for 2 years. The ones who don't report anything anymore because they've been conditioned not to.

I think they failed to factor the power of Open Source journalism that this story reflects. A story that starts with a question asked on one blog or forum, get's amped to a bunch of other forums which, in turn, leads to some real investigating, fact checking, and reporting. The cool thing is, that some will overreach or get facts wrong....but the story is quickly corrected when better information is presented.

That's what scares the shit of them. We are the media and Gannon is only the tip of the iceberg. I suspect that we'll see lots more story's get ignited from blogosphere...because the corporate media can longer do their job.

And Howie, Leslie, and Judy are just waking up to realize that their news model is pretty well pooched.
