Howie Kurtz keeps defending Gannon, but, never defends Eason Jordan, CNN
news head who was hounded out by RW bloggers.

Gannon was a FAKE journalist who prostituted himself PUBLICALLY on the internet, and Kurtz decries the aggressive behavior of LW bloggers who didn't think he belonged in the WH press briefings.

Jordan was a top-rated journalist with TWENTY-THREE YEARS of journalistic background and integrity, and you don't hear ONE PEEP out of Kurtz, who believes it's A-OK when a RW blogswarm forces his removal.

Instead, Kurtz offers up roses and softballs to the RW bloggers for the Rather and Jordan persecution, while he snidely condemns the LW in his spirited defense of a gay prostitute.

HOWARD KURTZ, ARE YOU FUCKING JEFF GANNON?

1. Some "colleagues" are more valuable than others.
Where is MWO when you need them? The headlines scream for them to come back!

5. No kidding. And it's obvious that Gannon was more Kurtz's colleague than
Eason Jordan.

How pathetic is that?

I hope you have e-mailed it to CNN, Kurtz's bosses, and anywhere else you can think of sending it. It really summarizes the sleaziness of this person.:puke:

8. This question should be asked of every media person defending Gannon.
Because it really is one of the most baffling defense offensives I have ever seen.

4. I still don't get the Eason Jordan thing
He made remarks at a PRIVATE conference, remarks that were supposed to be off the record. They weren't for publication. They weren't used to inform or sway the media-reading public. They were specifically for the ears of other Davos attendees. How is this abusing his position as a journalist? And didn't he clearly state that this was an opinion, not a fact? I just don't get why he felt forced to resign.

6. A horse head on his pillow? Dick makes calls to CNN all the time.
It's not like they don't listen. Let's just say it wasn't exactly a choice.

7. Time to call Howie out on his "objectivity." Now more than ever.
He still thinks that the we are all blissfully unaware of his RW shill of a wife, Sheri Annis.

If he's just come out and say, in the WaPo and on CNN, "I'm married to a RW PR hack who has worked on the Arnie S. campaign and now works hand in hand with the Republican Noise Machine," (he can even be more polite about it, I bear no grudge if he does it) I could forgive him his trespass.

Until and unless he confesses, though, he needs to go, and that is why he is desperately covering up for his own secrets; only they really aren't secrets. :eyes:

11. Excellent point!
It points how egregious Kurtz's defense of 'Gannon' is and his total focus on 'liberal blogs'. It shows he has his marching orders from the bush admin/Rove to bury the 'Gannon' story and demonize only the left leaning bloggers.

There HAS to be something big in this story to have them all scrambling like this.

14. That doesn't answer the double-standard being applied by Kurtz.
And it's not like Gannon doesn't a few 'screw-ups' on record, especially when he repeated Rush's opinions as facts.

15. Which family-values Republicans/media people did Gannon have sex with?
Or who does Gannon KNOW that had sex with right-wingers/media people?

I think I see what is going on here.

16. Excellent point, blm. Kurz gets sleazier by the day. If he only KNEW
what a pathetic, pitiful, deplorable hypocrite he looks like each and every day, he'd DIE of the embarrassment, shame and humiliation he unwittingly heaps upon himself. I can barely stand to see or hear him, the level of self-delusion on his part, and the cognitive dissonance on mine, is so great.

Eason Jordan's downfall at CNN ignites debate over what bloggers mean to journalism

February 20, 2005, 12:38 PM EST

NEW YORK -- CNN plainly hoped that the resignation of chief news executive Eason Jordan _ announced after the close of business on a Friday _ would swiftly calm a growing storm over comments he made about the military and journalists in Iraq.

It hasn't worked out that way.

"He just threw wood on the fire that he was trying to tamp down," said Steve Lovelady, managing editor of the CJR Daily journalism Web site.

The Jordan incident, along with the stories of Dan Rather's downfall and a White House reporter with questionable credentials, have increased the profile of Web loggers and ignited a debate about their roles as both watchdogs and competitors with journalists.

Jordan said he was resigning to avoid CNN being "unfairly tarnished" by his remarks at a conference in Switzerland that some journalists killed by the U.S. military had been targeted. He subsequently said he never meant to suggest it was intentional, but the context is murky since no transcript or video of the event has come to light.
