USANext Changes their Anti-AARP online ad... this is getting HILARIOUS
Edited on Wed Feb-23-05 12:25 AM by expatriot

First of all, the image is specifically called "/usareplacement.gif"

Second of all, it is incorrect English... it should be "...the AARP DOESN'T want you to know"

So they are admitting by omission that they have nothing to back up the "Anti-troop pro-gay marriage" accusation.

13. his bio is somewhat unique
he goes out of his way to paint himself as a "national" figure ... he's been on Faux, and on the Focus on the Family show where he works/worked :D

no date of birth ... doesn't appear to be too old, yet waves a CV with a lot of different jobs ... wonder how long he held them?

He worked for Sen. Grassley who is sponsoring the bills against we the people ...

and, Jarvis worked for some big companies, so he says .... he just doesn't mention which ones :D

http://www.usanext.org/Bios_charles.cfm

it's scary how virtually a handful of nobodies can be magnified through today's technology as a lot of somebodies with the help of someone's big bank account using the Republican propaganda apparatus network

there ought to be some decorum/behavior regulations if one claims itself to be a 501(c)(4) organizations for IRS purposes ... attacking
another organization through misrepresentations, lies, deceit, libel ... should not be tolerated ...

12. Wouldn't MADD TV be able to make some good sketches on this?
I can see it now!!

Just the people who have to pose for the ads questioning what it's all about. Then a bunch of angry grandma's and grandpa's shaking their canes at the windows of the offices where copy is being made... maybe a few old guys with guns standing guard so the "peaceful" protest isn't disturbed.

The "Valcom" lady!! Ahh too bad she is off the show. "Ya know what? We don't need you wrinkly geezers anyway." About 12 rifles are heard to be readied and her boss takes her out of the fray and changes the ad. Course it isn't any better, but...

14. USA Net STOLE those pictures!
DailyKos has the story:

The anti-AARP ad used our photo!
by RickyMonet
Tue Feb 22nd, 2005 at 19:32:43 PST

Dear Friends,

My husband Steven and I recently had our photo used in a right wing conservative add against the AARP without our permission. They basically stole the photo from The Portland Tribune's website or it was sold to them; we still have not found out how this happened. The ad and many blogs are mentioned on the Daily KOS www.dailykos.com who brought this to light, thanks guys.

17. That could very well be the reason they took the original ad off
of the site.

I hope Ricky does sue the bastards, though, for the discovery value alone.

Of course, I know it's an expensive proposition, but I'd contribute to a legal fund for him.

Can you please keep us posted?

18. Don't is right...
If you were to replace the AARP with a pronoun, it would be they. They don't want you to know. Bush didn't write it after all.

The rest is pretty ridiculous. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

19. Association takes a singular verb, no?
If you replace AARP with a pronoun wouldn't it be "it", meaning the association?

Off topic, sorry. :)

21. Nope--The American Association of Retired Persons
Edited on Wed Feb-23-05 09:19 AM by Malikshah
"don't" does not work.

2 problems actually--

No contractions (that's a stylistic thing on my part)
Association takes the singular.

"They don't"
"He/She/It doesn't"
