"Get over it!" Crazy letter to my local paper.
Last time I checked, "Hollywood" wasn't sending people to their deaths. Anyone in the Richmond area or NoVa, please write a response...I can't since I just had one published the other day and have to wait 3 months.

Liberals Don't Mind Liberal Extravagance

Editor, Times-Dispatch: I can't stand it anymore! Walter Zadan's sanctimonious letter, "Some Dined, Danced; Others Died at War," is the final straw! I have to rain on this selective outrage.

After hearing for weeks from liberals about the "obscene display of power and privilege" surrounding the presidential Inauguration, I have to ask: Where is their outrage at the "obscene display of power and privilege" in Hollywood?

Just five days before the President's Inauguration, Tinseltown held its Golden Globe
Awards. The costs associated with this extravaganza -- clothing, hair, jewelry, advertising, transportation, event location, gift bags, awards, parties were well more than $40 million. Add to that millions of dollars more for the collective worth of the stars who attended or presented awards to celebrate themselves.

The granddaddy of all awards shows will be later this month -- the Academy Awards. Others held throughout the year include the Screen Actors Guild, American Music, Grammy, and People's Choice awards.

These extravagant affairs are held annually and attended by the rich and famous. The presidential Inauguration is held once every four years and attended by grassroots volunteers as well as the more affluent.

After 2000, we listened as liberals whined about an "illegitimate" President. In 2004, President Bush was overwhelmingly re-elected.

The bottom line: Get over it! Lynn Randall Mitchell. staunton.

1. Who elected Hollywood? Did Hollywood take us to war?
Honestly, you really ought to think about something for more than a second or two before you write about it.

5. How about this...
Re: Liberals Don't Mind Liberal Extravagance

Note to Lynn Randall Mitchell: Tinseltown doesn't send Americans off to die in wars. Inasmuch as Mr. Bush does, a modicum of respectful restraint was called for, at the time of his inauguration. How unfortunate that neither he nor his supporters could apprehend such a concept.

And, by the way, if you believe that 51% of the vote constitutes an overwhelming election of your candidate, Mr. Bush has a Social Security Reform plan he'd like to sell you.

6. HollyWood isn't using TAXPAYERs money... and the only grassroots
were people quite a ways away having their own protest balls.

Did Babs * really raise this awful man? She seems like such a nice woman.

* is so illegitimate, we ought to just call him the royal bastard and be honest about it.

9. When all else fails, attack Hollywood
That has been the philosophy of the Repugs recently.

Funny how they attack the rich elitists in Hollywood, but how they never attack any of the rich oil/energy elitist tycoons.

10. Exactly
And they never attack Bush for being BORN rich or anything like that. He's privilaged to and never had to work. He just did so he could upstage his daddy and failed and his daddy bailed him out. When the tsunami hit it was hollywood who opened their pockets. Not W.
