The Art of War (Radio Netherlands)

In these days of "shock and awe" and "overwhelming force" what can a 2500-year-old Chinese text teach us about war? A lot, it seems. Sunzi's "Art of War" continues to occupy a place on the bedside table of many generals. Beyond the theatre of war, captains of industry, dog trainers and lovers, among others, are reading this book. Why does this ancient text continue to resonate for so many?

Psychological insight
His understanding of the logistics of war is impressive, but it's his understanding of the psychology of those waging war, which continues to fascinate people. He wrote: "If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the results of a hundred battles. If you know yourself, but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle."

More.....(and wondering if GWB has read this book?)
