After Dean Speech: I Am More Inclined To Support HIM
I say this as somebody who leans toward Clark and has since before he got in to the race.

This whole episode has got to be the most disgusting display of media vulturism I've ever seen.

I've seen this speech over and over again and it just looked like he was pumping up his crowd and having a bit of fun! He had a big smile on his face after the infamous 'YEEAHH' - as if to say "I know this is over the top, but we're just pumping up the crowd'

Anyway, what disgusts me just as much as the medias reaction is the reaction of many here that seem to think this was some kind of 'self destruction' ! HUH?!?!

Since when is pumping up a crowd of supporters 'Insane' ?

In any case, I now consider Dean a hero and intend to support him and am rooting for him more than anybody else now. He has shown courage and an 'energy' that is far from 'insane' but good natured.

Edwards and Kerry seem far too lethargic to motivate anybody to get off of their couch. In my opinion we need to go for broke. We are not going to beat shrub by 'being careful' - We need somebody to put it all on the line and let the chips fall where they may.

Do you think Kerry or Edwards will do that?

Clark, as much as I support him, has yet to prove himself. This coming primary will be key for his chances.

But right now, Dean speaks for me.

2. I was really upset yesterday but Dean PR people are working on getting
him on the Daily show as soon as possible and hopefully Letterman soon. I think that Dean really might be made of teflon, for some reason I think that now more than ever people will watch him talking to Diane Sawyer and the Daily Show, I think that is he going to pull through this, somehow. I didn't think that yesterday but now for some reason I am feeling optimistic again.

3. I sort of feel the same way.
I laughed when I saw it live. Then the media overblowing pissed me off.
The speech kinda grows on you the more it repeats in your mind. I like him now. But Clark will continue to be numero uno.

4. Yep
How quickly we forget that the 'devastating' Gennifer Flowers revelations about Clinton ended up making him bounce back. It got him in the news and got people 'curious' about him.

The same might happen for Dean. There may be some people who say - Whoa - What's all this noise about Dean, I'd better watch his interview on CNN tonight - or whatever.

I think he will get a chance to recover and in someways come out ahead as a result of this.

5. but...but...he's crazy
he made a funny noise...he's crazy. Politicians are supposed to be like Bill Frist and Al Gore, wooden, flat, uninspiring.

Funny "Yeah" = Crazy. C'mon you heard Newt Gingrich tell Sean Hannity that last night. It must be true.

I think I'm going to take a fecal relief program related activity now.

6. You know....
Funny you should say that. I am a Dean suporter and a damn hardcore one at that.

I was just walking in the door at my house after returning from a caucus watching partywhen dean made that speech and when i saw it initialy my first impression was wow that he was over the top.

But you know what the more I watch it the more I love it. I love his passion I love his excitement I love that he is as into it as his suporters. I am so tired of the stale politics of the PC generation god forbid you ever say anything that someone might take offense to.

At this point every time I see him go YEAAAA! I get a grin from ear to ear. For better or worse this is my guy the whole media cartel can tell me in a thousand different ways why it is suposed to be scary. But all I see at this point is a very endearing man fighting for his suporters and his country.

Go get em Doc you made me proud to be a democrat again and I will never give up on you because of it.

7. YEEAAAGGHHHHH!
I'm really glad to hear that!

Yesterday and even this morning I was feeling really, really down about the media smearing him over what I thought was pure and simple exuberance. Yesterday I was questioning whether or not he could pull through the vicious attacks on him coming from left and right.

But today I feel very positive...I think he will pull through this and come out stronger than ever! The more the media plays his speech over and over, I think people will be questioning why it's such a big deal.

If the worst they've got on Howard Dean is that he was pumping up a crowd with a hoarse voice, I'm not worried a bit about his campaign! :D

10. Still going... Dean's raised more than $1 MIL since IOWA

"...When DFA Finance Committee Chairman Terry Learman joined the call he said in his 56 years he had "never seen a better campaign office--life charged situation" than the one he is seeing from Manchester headquarters from where he called.

"But it takes a lot of fuel to run the engine," said Learman. "besides money--we need people to swarm to New Hampshire right now."

In the question and answer session, Learman responded that, since Iowa, "the internet alone has raised over $1 million. Fundraising has not dropped at all, and that number doesn't include the checks being mailed in....""

11. excellent post, thank you phrenzy.
when i thought how it must feel to be Dean, on his way to New Hampshire running for president of the united states...

whoa

i can't imagine NOT being in that state!

this whole thing reminds me of always wondering how athletes can be downhearted about being second and third best in the world at something.
people expect sadness about THAT?!

i get chicken skin every time i watch it, myself. he is so earnestly thrilled!

peace!

13. Actually, as an Edwards supporter...
I actually am liking Howard Dean more after the "I have a scream" speech.

I still think Edwards has the best chance to beat Bush, and I hope he gets a 3rd place in NH...

but Dean is growing on me, dammit....

We all know, despite our protestations to the contrary, that ALL of us are ABB deep down. Even those who shout "my vote is not transferable!"... when it gets down to the nitty-gritty, we're going to vote ABB. If you participate in this forum, then by definition you are a person who is likely to vote. And you're not going to vote for Bush or in any way that helps Bush, no matter what. If we're all honest with ourselves, even Lieberman would get our vote if it meant no more Bush. The Supreme Court nominations that are coming up ALONE warrant that from any responsible citizen.

For now, we all act like we'll take our ball and go home if our guy doesn't get the nomination... but we won't. We might be less enthusiastic.... but every time we see chimp-boy on TV, we'll say to ourselves "ABB!".

You all know it, even you Nader-ites (who deep down know you f***ed up royally in 2000 - especially if you were in NH or FLA). Not too many people talking about "Gush/Bore" anymore... not after what we've seen the past 3 years. Nader-ites will do their penance and vote for the Democratic nominee - whomever it is.

(But I want it to be Edwards....)

we heard was how "wooden" Al Gore was. That he was a liar. His clothes...the whole bit. He never fought back. Dean will

16. I'm still for Clark but
I have to say that I am getting really pissed off at the way the media is carrying on about 'the scream'. If Dean gets the nomination it makes me feel like I can get behind him much more enthusiastically than I once would have.
