Investigate the State of Florida
Prison Industries Enhancement (P.I.E.)
Private Sector Partnership Program.

This federally authorized state program has thousands of motivated inmate workers and industrial space at some of the state's major correctional institutions.

The PIE Certification Program was created by Congress in 1979 to encourage states and units of local government to establish employment opportunities for prisoners that approximate private sector work opportunities. more....

Welcome to the PRIDE Enterprises EStore:
http://www.pridefl.com/

As President and CEO of PRIDE, Pamela Jo Davis directs a diversified manufacturing and services company with annual sales which last year exceeded $81 million from 51 industries at 21 correctional institutions throughout Florida. In 1998, PRIDE trained and provided employment for more than 4,800 inmate workers statewide.

PRIDE forms strategic partnerships with private sector businesses which use the corporation’s skilled inmate workforce to manufacture products and services. The corporation, through its affiliate, RISE USA, also helps inmate workers obtain private-sector employment upon release.

With nearly two decades of experience and expertise in training and providing jobs for the traditionally hard to employ, PRIDE programs are a model for other employment and training initiatives such as WAGES, the federal welfare-to-work program.

With extensive background in private-sector business and state government, Davis became PRIDE’s top executive in 1991, after directing a $100 million Strategic Business Unit for Motorola, Inc. for Private Paging Systems, which became a start-up venture in Europe. Davis also developed research surveys for Business Week Magazine and was instrumental in establishing the Latin American office of Dow Chemical Corp. in Coral Gables, Florida.

A native Floridian, Davis resides in Largo. She serves as chair of the District Board of Trustees of St. Petersburg Junior College and is a former member of the District Governing Board of Southwest Florida Water Management District.

Statewide, Davis serves as chair elect of the Florida Chamber of Commerce Foundation and chairs the research committee. She also serves as Vice Chairman of the executive committee of the Associated Marine Institutes, which works with juvenile delinquents. On the national level, Davis recently served as Chairman of the Correctional Industries Association and is presently its treasurer.

The Women’s Council of the St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce recently honored Davis with its "Business Woman of the Year" award, presented annually for outstanding civic and corporate leadership.

2. Make everything illegal,
and then put us all in jail where we can work at 3rd world wages. This kind of thing frightens me alot. It was one thing when prisoners were picking up trash and making license plates, but now it is becoming its own damned industry.
