A Wingnut Horror Story...
Edited on Fri Feb-25-05 04:49 PM by mwb970
This happened about 5 years ago and it still horrifies me. At that time, I had a life-size cutout of Hillary standing up in my office as sort of a joke/conversation piece. It was "take your daughter to work" day, and our resident right-wing wacko (let's call him Roger) brought his daughter (age about 8) into my office to meet me. She made a comment about the Hillary cutout. So Roger says to her "You know what we do to people like her?" and then mimes shooting Hillary with a machine gun, complete with sound effects. I almost choked! Imagine demonstrating to your impressionable young child that we should violently kill anyone who disgrees with us! It seemed like child abuse to me.

By the way, Roger is an extremely pious evangelical Christian, holds Bible study meetings at his house, etc. He hates the Clintons with a white-hot passion.

1. Probably one of those addictive personalities...

If it wasn't jebus, it would probably be coke or something. The man these people worship has about as much to do with Jesus as Guckert/Gannon does to an actual journalist...

4. Amen
And this Christian thanks you for that.

I have a Conservative Baptist friend, and it seems to me she lets pass alot of stuff because "he's a Christian."

She was going to vote for a Conservative third party (the Libertarian-like one with the pro-life stance) until Kerry pissed her off with the Mary Cheney comment, even though she saw Bush as quite beatable. I asked her if Cheney and Ashcroft and Rumsfeld scared her and the answer was yes. But she agrees with him fiscally, I guess, so it's apparently all good.

Without understanding the specifics, I told her America owes several countries money. She didn't believe it, saying it was various countries that owed us money. True, but I have since realized I was trying to talk about the trade deficit. So when does the world foreclose, I wonder.

2. Similar thing happened to me.
I was vacationing in Las Vegas with my partner and a friend of ours. We were sitting at our table at dinner having a pleasant conversation that turned to politics. I talked about how much I admired the Clintons for all the crap they had to put up with, etc. Little did I know but a man sitting at the table behind us was listening to our conversation and when he got up to leave he stood by our table and said, "I should have shot Bill Clinton when I had the chance." I just looked at him in disbelief and he quickly walked out. It caught me by surprise because otherwise I would have reported him to security for making threats against a President.

5. Why is it "support the President" never applies to Democrats
"Respect the office" never applies when it is a Democrat in office.

And what is this Clinton hate, I wonder. Do they have as much to base their hate on as we do for Bush? Or were they just pissed because he broke up their conservative string of success? Will they treat every Dem prez the same, pissed because he's undoing their wonderous Conservative agenda? Dang, now they have to start ALL over again?

3. Can you ask "Roger" to sign up here and start a thread where we can
ask him questions regarding Clinton Hatred? I'm serious. I just don't get it. According to the CW as long as the Dems nominate a Southern White Guy who speaks with an accent and is not part of the Washington Insider Club (or at least perceived as such) then we got ourselves a winner! Well that was exactly Bill "Bubba" Clinton, yet he was hounded and attacked from BEFORE day one. And now you get the repukes with the Connecticut born and bred gw bush* who plays a Fauxboy on a ranch but is skeered of horses and that motherguckert can do no wrong!

Roger, is there ANY way to explain your massive fucking disconnect?

6. the foundation of religion is hatred.
it allows "believers" to rationalize carving the world up into the "us" and the "them" and then justifies their hatred, persecution and even genocide against the "them."

From a socio-anthropological and historical viewpoint, that is the primary purpose of religion. It allows those in power to get the populace to behave irrationally.

7. We used to have a business associate who was a devout Christian, but
never missed an opportunity to use words such as "nigger" and "kike." You'll be pleased to know he was out in the woods with his tractor, it did a somersault on a slope, and he became road kill. Justice was served.

8. If he had been a liberal or gay or something "evil"
the "Christians" would have said he'd obviously done something to deserve his early death.
