I just had a very sad thought
Most of the other countries in the world have more of a democratic process than we do--even the Ukraine takes to the streets when their elections are foul, yet our country pretends to have cornered the market while taking away our hard fought rights daily.
Very sad.

2. welcome to the Chimpionic Empire.
We basicaly have the ingredients for a theocratic tolitarian state, or a country being exploited by a crime family. Trust me - the fix is in.

3. An alternative press which is challenging the CM is a very positive turn.
Take heart. Everything is a process.

4. I know
We're, as a whole, uneducated fools that believe what Fox News, our ministers (my church let us debate it in service), and pretend all is good as long as terrorists are scared of us.

5. Very sad that you are the first Western Democracy to fall into the
corporate grab for power. Who would have thunk it would be you?

6. And yet...looking back....it all makes sense...
the loss of villages to strip malls and WalMart. A dis-connected society perpetually seeking the 'American Dream', to the exclusion of all things humane.

7. Yup! But the big thing is the encouragement of people believe in
dreams. The creator myth of America as a beacon... and all this taught in school. Myth followers make the best patriots the patsies. Maybe it is only 20% of your population - but that is a big enough chunk to build false realities and raise some cash.

With the Frech & English issue in Canada - we learnt that you had to compromise and that you never got EVERYTHING YOU WANTED out of your government. It is always a compromise living in a democracy.
I guess we were lucky to not be such a monolith.

8. You're right. I'll bet that if every vote ACTUALLY counted
(without the voter intimidation, racism, nazi tactics used by the neocons, Diebold and that other company) the results!?!?!

Popular Vote:
Kerry - 91%
Bush - 7%

Period! We've been BU$H WHACKED.

9. Me2. I was very jealous of the Ukraine. And all the insane actions
by this administration being swept under the carpet. There was a time, not too long ago, when you could always count on the press to uncover the bad things. Not anymore. I know there is too much news constantly bombarding people. But it is more than that. No serious issues really get discussed. It is news by popularity and ratings and hype. Even when something big does get coverage, the attention span mentality takes over and its "just no big deal tomorrow". That is how Bush gets away with the shit. He knows it will go away the next day.

Time to do what others have suggested. Work together, in unison, to boycott specific newscasters, bombard them with complaints, until something changes.
