According to KO a White House source Bush, Inc does not their Social Security proposal will pass this year. They say that what Bush is doing now is trying to paint the Democrats as blocking a good idea.

I guess he thinks blaming Democrats for his failed Social Security idea will earn him more seats in the House and Senate.

We are trying to block a really, really BAD idea. An utterly moronic idea, which is fitting, I suppose. It has symmetry.

We are gonna paint his worthless ass plaid with this one.

4. The GOP is finally showing its true colors ...
and many Bush, Inc supporters who have no reason to be voting for him are starting to see them for what they are.

2. Poll on AOL showed 65% against SS Privatization.
I hear now that he is trying to keep Wall Street out of the speeches.

3. This must not Die..he should be held accountable for proposing it.
If what they say is true that it has little or no chance of passing doe snot give me comfort this issue is being won by the Democrats one of the few things even some Bush voters agree with they need to seize this issue and run with it even more than they have.

8. Okay, Bush's strategy is really, really going to backfire
He's playing right into our hands, making himself weaker in the face of a really unpopular proposal, and telling Americans: You know that proposal you really don't like? The Democrats are responsible for stopping it.

We play this right, we're going to win big in '06.

10. That's what I think too
And knowing how stubborn Bush is he'll keep pushing this plan. He thinks it's his way or the highway. He doesn't listen to anybody unless they say "yes" or agree with him. So I think he'll keep pushing it. Especially now that he has this nine year old kid. :eyes: Pathetic and lame. I don't remember Clinton ever using a little kid to sell a policey. He's pathetic (Bush). I hope we win big next year. That would be nice. :)

Republicans solve problems without raising taxes.
Democrats' only solution is to raise them.
End of story.

They'd rather lose everything than give up the carefully cultivated conventional wisdom.

11. Of course
I read a story not long ago (you can probably find it through google) and this town in Calfornia had a choice: either raise taxes a little bit or close down all their librarires. Wanna guess what they chose?

12. He doesn't seem to realize that 1.5% margin of victory is not
a mandate, and he never had any political capital to spend.

All the better for us.

13. I believe that Bush is 1000% commited
Bush would not be going on this hard sell tour if that is the case,
the campaign is meat and drink to him, he could care less about day to day 9-5 jobs, he also bases all his decisions on his gut feelings,
now he's feeling rejected and trying to get back the applause.

Correct me if I'm wrong and I know you will ;)

BUT I don't think that there's one instance save for the Kerrick implosion that the * Administration hasn't gotten "it's exact way" on policy issues.

When in the past 5 years has ANY ORGANIZATION told anyone in the Executive Branch "NO, YOU CAN'T DO THAT!" ... well and lived (career wise of course  ) and/or actually follow through with NOT giving our petulant childlike Neo-con Bushites their way?

16. you have nailed it
the only other thing I can think of is the judges, but I think that he still has something up his sleeve to win his popularity back, but I don't see folks give up their social security pensions, in these hard times, it may be the only money they have for their old age.

14. Hmmm. a 60 day tour
to make dems look wrong? Doesn't sound plausable. Especially since he got Greenspan up there hoaring for it.

They're going down fighting, you have to give them credit. This could really damage his crediability with some of his base if he doesn't know when to call it quits. Could Rove have miscalculated?

for judicial appointments. That way when they filibuster again, the Repugs will just HAVE TO change the rules and go nuclear.

Just watch out that the bomb doesn't go off in your face.
