1. Oh yes he did!
Re-purchased the former presidential yacht and huge costs to restore it.

Fiscal conservatism
While the families of US soldiers in Iraq are taking donations to send body armour to their kids, Bush gets a presidential yacht. The Republicans have pushed through a $388 billion spending bill. Due to the massive deficit, the bill aims to cut funding for everything from education to environmental cleanups. A new expense was created, namely the allocation of $2 million for the government to buy back the presidential yacht Sequoia.

$2 million so that Bush can play sailor while millions of Americas get funding cuts. Wow. Meanwhile, an $800 billion increase in the government's borrowing limit has also been agreed. Unsurprisingly, as the deficit reached $413 billion last year and is expected to climb indefinitely.

.... The worst part is the President gets to use the yacht any fucking time he wants for FREE!! But NOOOO chimpass** has to buy it with our money and refurbish it to his garish specifications. :puke:

4. The yacht was first bought as a decoy ship against rumrunners--
remember Prohibition? It served as the Presidential Yacht until Jimmy Carter sold it. While serving as a high-end charter boat, it was still available if a President or Vice-President wanted to use it.

However, this was not good enough. The last spending bill that passed included funds to buy it back--outright.

8. I hope so. In one of the articles about the re-purchase plans....
It was mentioned that the owners weren't happy. Apparently, it's still available for charter:

And the President or VP have always been able to use it anytime they liked.....
