Imperial Presidency
Over the past 4 years, we've watched the steady erosion of our democratic institutions and the greedy power grab by the executive branch of government. It is becoming increasingly apparent that the occupier of the Oval Office believes himself to be above the law and his fellow citizens. In fact, he believes himself to be somehow divinely ordained to drag us and the world through as much misery as he can in the time allotted. It is equally disturbing that we have been thrust back into a policy based on manifest destiny. It really angers me.

I can't get to the mind set which sees this as acceptable even in my wildest imagination. I fully expect us to wake up in a pre Magna Carta world any day now and find that the next greatest nostrum served up as science will be that touching the king will cure scrofula.

Does anyone else feel like they are in some weird disassociative state? To me what is occurring in our nation is counter-intuitive and defies common sense.

3. I can relate to what you're saying - it's like a private nightmare
Watching the country being flushed down the toilet and observing that most people don't hear or see it happening. Those who do are intimidated from speaking up or often don't have the resources to shout it from the rooftops.

We have a corporate media that won't even present the facts so that the general public can see the train wreck that's approaching.

I would never have believed it, even four years ago! I didn't realize how much I've taken for granted about the existence of democracy in this country. Seeing it being destroyed makes me love this country even more than I thought I did just after the events of 9/11.

Too many people after 9/11 couldn't handle the US being attacked on our own soil, since it had never happened, and are being manipulated into fear or have had such inner rage unleashed that one wonders how those people could ever have survived having to live in countries where terrorism is more of a fact of life.

4. I was thinking something like that myself this morning
(great minds and all that) was thinking of asking if anyone else feels like Alice in Wonderland, everyone around you acts like what's going on is completely normal but you are in this weird disassociative state. So, yes, a lot of us feel exactly like that. And have for a while.

5. I agree completely
and cannot for the life of me understand what is going on. Where are our patriots? Where are the people who love this country?

7. What do you think they will call the Amendment to the Constitution
implemented after Bush leaves office? The one where there is a 'means' test for the President and an MRI & psychologial testing for all close personal operatives too.
