Kerry helping raise money for Hillary Clinton

Nobody's calling them the 2008 Democratic dream ticket, but Sen. John F. Kerry delivered the keynote speech at a fund-raiser for Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton that raised a whopping $180,000. ``Tonight makes history,'' Kerry joked to the crowd, according to a friend who attended the event on Wednesday. ``It's the first time in four years (former Democratic National Committee chairman) Terry McAuliffe and I haven't been the ones asking you for money.''

Kerry, the defeated 2004 Democratic presidential nominee, threw his fund-raising weight behind the dinner at a private Georgetown home for the New York senator and former first lady, spending three hours schmoozing late into the evening.

The Massachusetts Democrat will also appear at a major fund-raising event for Clinton in Boston sometime in early May.

Today Kerry, Clinton and other Senate Democrats will trek together to New York City and three other cities to highlight their opposition to President Bush's Social Security reform plan.

Next time I want someone from the Democratic wing of the Democratic party. Clinton is too war happy for my likes. I'm still mad at Kerry for saying that we are better off without Saddam. Actually, I think the world is less safe now that there is utter chaos in Iraq.

do you support her candidacy for the Senate seat she now holds? That's what this fundraiser was about.


btw, saying the world is better off without Saddam in power does not imply that Bush was in anyway right in his Iraq actions. That is what RightWing 'journalists' wanted to spread by asking the question, however, the implication is false. I think the world would be better off without Robert Mugabe in power, but that doesn't mean I think Zimbabwe should be invaded and his government toppled.

But I don't live in NY and can't vote for her. I still wish that she had not moved so right.

Kerry is the BEST choice to beat the repugs!! He's still fighting hard for us. He's a GREAT leader and almost overcame huge disadvantage of opponent's wartime incumbency.

I think the democrats are getting back on message and I'm hopeful that our next nominee will truly espouse positions reflective of the democrats and not be a Repub-lite. Sorry -- I don't want to offend you but both Kerry and Clinton authorized Bush to go to war in Iraq. As I also mentioned, I didn't like what Kerry said that indicated continuing support for the war. Kerry may be a good man but his views are not mine.

She could have done more for his campaign, yet he put all that behind him and is stumping for hers.

I actually think Kerry has a better chance without Clinton. And I can't see him accepting Veep at this point.

If I can't have Kerry the President, I'd like him to get Sec. of State or Attorney General or somesuch. I'd like to see him stay open for that, not Veep.

It was a nice gesture on his part to help Hillary Clinton raise funds. Former President Clinton helped campaign for John Kerry even though Clinton was still recuperating from the heart operation. I was happy to see that he was able to raise so much $$$$! I still hold out hope that he will attempt to run again in 2008.
